Chapter 5

GREYSON

Who would've ever thought I'd be spending my birthday at the hospital with someone I don't know. As Capo , I'm supposed to ensure that all of my members are safe, not someone who was met off the street. But, Alaina insisted we save her, and give her a chance. I can't say no to her. She'd kill me, not that I'm afraid of her or anything, but she knows how to handle a gun. The last person that said no to her was shot in the leg, and that was when she was pregnant. Alaina paced back and forth, as I sat in the chair watching her. "Alaina, we won't know what's going on by you pacing back and forth. Come sit down." She came and sat on my lap, shaking her leg. I sighed, and placed my hand on her leg. "Calm down baby, she's going to be fine and then we can go from there." I kissed her temple, and stroked her thigh.

"Greyson, Alaina" Alaina shot up and walked over to the doctor. Dr. Tanner took his glasses off and looked at us. "She's stable, but you guys ought a wanna see this." I raised an eyebrow but followed him back to his office. He pulled up X-rays and Alaina gasped. Now, I understand why Alaina wants to help her. She had 6 broken ribs, and what looks like swelling in the rib area, a fractured ankle, and broken wrist. A tear fell out of Alaina's eye, and I pulled her closer. "How long before she's able to come out of the hospital?"

"2, maybe 3 weeks depending on how well she heals." Alaina squeezed my hand. "We'll be taking her with us. If it was this bad, I can only imagine how bad it'll be if she's on her own again." Dr. Tanner nodded, and wrote out a prescription.

"She'll need this when she's out. 2 a day." I nodded, and put the paper into my jacket. "Can we see her?" He nodded and stood up. We followed him out of the office, and to the room she was held in. He opened the door, and let us in. Alaina walked over to the bed, and touched her cheek. The girl flinched, and looked scared. "It's okay, I'm not here to hurt you. My name is Alaina Kennmore, you were found and my husband and I's company. We're here to make sure you're okay." Tears fell down the girl's face. "You have to help me. He's going to kill me!" Alaina turned towards me with a fear stricken look on her face. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and pulled away from Alaina. I dialed Francisco's number. "Boss,"

"I need you to run a name for me, Nima, all  the Nima's you can find and I need you to get a few men to the hospital now."

"Yes sir." I hung up, and walked back in the room. Alaina was soothing the girl. I walked over to her, and put my arm on her shoulder. "I have a few people coming to guard your door so that no one comes in except for me, my wife or your doctor. We are going to make sure you are safe." She nodded, and thanked me. "You're in good hands Nima, I can assure you that."

We stayed a few more hours before we finally left. Alaina sat silent next to me on the way home. "What is it cara mia?" She shook her head. "She reminded me of....me when they took me." I took her hand in mine, and kissed the back of it. "How about we cancel dinner and stay in?" She looked at me. "Greyson no, we don't have to do that, it's your birthday." I pulled up to the gate of our home, and waited for the gate to open. "I have many more to go, and as long as I'm with you that's all that matters. We can have dinner with the boys and have a family night in." She touched my cheek. "You are an amazing man Greyson Kennmore. Thank you for today, I really appreciate you giving her a chance." I cut the car off, and pecked her lips. I got out, and went to her side of the car, and helped her out. She started walking towards the door, and I picked her up bridal style, carrying her to the door. "You never cease to amaze me Mr. Kennmore." I punched in the code to the door, and kicked it open. The smell of food hit my nose and my mouth watered. "It smells yummy in here." Alaina hopped down, and headed towards the kitchen. "Mommy!" Dmitry ran around the corner, and into Alaina's legs. Kaiden and Camden came running in, occasionally falling on their butts. I chuckled, and watched Alaina hug and kiss them.
