7:55 am – Police Station
7 hours and 38 minutes after
Gracie was shivering, and it had nothing to do with the air conditioner.
She was in the police station, as she had been for the past hour, waiting. Waiting for what, she wasn't sure.
All the officers wanted to do was talk to her and ask questions.
But Gracie didn't want to talk.
Gracie didn't want to do anything.
And so she sat, staring at the floor, ignoring the looks from the people passing by, focusing on the scuff on her canvas shoes- the same shoes that she had convinced Amelia to buy a pair of as well as a way to celebrate the beginning of their freshman year together.
Shoes that Amelia would never wear again.
