Cold, that was all I could think about. The sharp wind found its way into every aching bone. It was turning us just as bitter.

"We went the wrong way," V33 said to S51.

They had been arguing for hours and only getting louder.

"No, we didn't!" S51 protested.

V33 put her hands under her arms to keep warm.

"If you were right, we'd have seen it by now!" she said shivering.

"How do you know?" S51 said and stopped in the middle of the path.

"You're an idiot, obliviously, " V33 said.

V33 walked up beside S51. She barely reached S51's chest and looked like a fluffy kitten picking a fight with a mangy dog. If I weren't so tired, it would have been funny.

Only one person could be as tired of them as I was. She covered her eyes with the book that never left her side. Not even when we stopped for water did she let that book down.

V33 put her face close to S51.

"What, you gonna hit me? Remember how that went last time," she said.

S51 turned his head away, "You're a girl, I let you win."

V33 covered her laughter with her hand, "Okay," she said.

"You're the idiot! Why don't you ever shut up!" S51 said and kicked his foot, making branches fly.

His anger only fueled her laughter. Her laughter ignited his rage.

S51 wrapped his fingers around the trigger of the gun.

He wouldn't dare, would he?

A shrill voice broke through their discourse.

"You're both idiots!"

V33 and S51 looked at me first. They hadn't noticed I was there until now. But, this wasn't me.

She clenched her fingers around the book.

"We're never going to get anywhere if they hear us," she whispered, the cold air billowed out from her shivering lips.

If they hear us.

V33 and S51 frozen faces had come to the same thought.

We were prey hiding in water, and we just made the tide ripple.
