What do you do when you're in distress and read to die?
Smoke up of course.
What else can you really do.
It took me a long time, but I found the one person I knew would have it.
I had a bunch of money from all the times I was supposed to order pizza but didn't want to face a pizza man.
'Um. I can get weed from you, right'
My voice was quiet, unsure and shaking.
The boy looked down at me.
His eyes were intense and ringed with black.
'And what would a kid like you.'
He spoke pointedly.
Ouch.
'Want with a thing like that?'
I tried not to take offense to the question.
'They said smoking drugs makes you forget'
I shook my head a bit, holding the money out with a frown.
'Please let me forget'
The boy was taken a back.
I could tell he didn't expect that answer from me.
'Ok'
His voice was guilty as he fished out a bag.
It didn't look like it did on Tv. It was rolled already.
I went to give him the money, but he nudged it away.
'First ones always free.'
With a smile I took the bag and placed it in my pocket.
Now more confident, I turned to walk away.
His voice stopped me.
'What's your name kid'
He called after me.
I sighed and turned to face him.
'Evan hansen'
He smiled the smallest smile filled with guilt.
'Stay safe Evan Hansen'
