How my Dear did come to me, I wish hadn't known,

As down and down from crystal eyes, painful tears did stream,

And down and down the rabbit hole, her broken heart was thrown,

When she landed safe and sound, it made her want to scream.

How my sweetheart stayed with me, I never understood,

Her kindness and her passion, never had they wavered,

Even on my bitter days, all she saw in me was good,

And even on my tempered days, my company she favored.

Her smile all but faded, her cheeks had lost their glow,

I wish that I had realized, she couldn't hold another day,

I think I could have saved her if I hadn't been so slow.

perhaps if I had seen it, there might have been a way.

I was blinded by the pretty thoughts, she brought while by my side,

Had I only noticed, even in wonderland, she cried.
