Chapter 17~Shall name him, DAVE

My feet hit the ground with a ‘thud’ each step I took lead me closer to the finish line; I looked over to my left and see the track team coach and Chris talking, and to my right was one of the boys from the other day. I leant that the other boy wasn’t ‘fit’ enough to be part of track, but the coach said that he could put a word in for him in the baseball team. The other boy, who’s running to my right, is also probably not ‘fit’ enough for this, since we’ve only just started and he’s already huffing and puffing; though after yesterday he probably didn’t get enough sleep, which is the reason I went to bed at 6pm yesterday.

“RIGHT ANOTHER 10 LAPS AROUND THE TRACK THEN WE’LL MOVE ON TO CARDIO” the coach called out and by the sigh and look on the other boys face I could tell he’s too sore and tried to continue

“No” the boy whispered trying to catch his breath

“WHAT WAS THAT BOY!?”

“No” he said a little louder

The coach put his hand to his ear making a rude face

“NO!” the boys shouted his face red and sweat dripping from his forehead

“I CANT HEARD YOU!” the coach called

“NO! I GIVE UP, GIVE THE BLOODY PLACE TO THAT CHICK THIS WHOLE THINGS NOT WORTH IT!!!” he shouted kicking the ground hard then walked away with fast and strong strides to the boys changing room

The coach nodded looking satisfied then wrote something’s in his note book

Chris whispered something to him then walked away; the coach started approaching me, cracking his neck along the way

“You’re in Maddison” the coach shook my hand roughly and looking me in the eye

“Thank you sir”

“Its coach Wills to you” I nodded and he smiled

“Brighten up Maddison, and go take a shower you stink” he chuckled hitting me on the shoulder lightly

Wow never thought I’d see the man who put 20 hopeful runners into hell chuckle

I nodded and started walking to the showers

“MAD!!!”

Before I knew it little arms were wrapped around me, who belong, --I’m going to guess— to Harry

“Hey little guy” I turned my head and watched as he wriggled around from my back to my front and put his lips up to my ear

“Congratulations” he said quietly but before I could thank him he was pulled out of my arms by Lewis
