As I lay down in bed
I felt somehow at ease
Like an infant in a cradle
Softly sleeping in peace
For my mind is somehow weary
From thingsI've heard and done
They puncture deep right through me
This woe that can't be gone
If this is the only way
To escape pain and grief
Then I wish to slumber eternally
To feel the sense of relief
