Piper is easily my favourite of the Lost Hero trio. That doesn’t mean I like her.

See, one of the things that bugged me the most about her was that she was one of those ‘I just get it’ characters. She never actually had to work to understand things in the midst of battle, never had to actually think about anything she wanted to know. Everything was just kinda handed to her. She just ‘got it’.

Annabeth was the reverse of this. She actually used her intellectual ability to figure things out mentally, instead of one of the gods handing the answer to her. Piper, on the other hand, doesn’t have to figure out anything for herself.

And calling back on my argument for Jason, Piper had no reason to be with him after he got his memories back. Once she knew that all of her memories were forged, and that none of them actually happened, she should have been smart and left him. He could have been anything. He could have been a psychopathic killer who hid behind a personable mask. If it were me, I would have no longer thought of him as ‘trustworthy’. But Piper just saddled right up, as if he really was to perfect guy she had seen in all of her false memories.

Also, her backstory is just stupid, and sounds like something out of a bad fanfic. Yeah, she’s a daughter of Aphrodite who has a famous movie star for a dad. I can live with that. But then, she’s not girly at all and is basically nothing like the rest of her siblings. And to add to that, she’s also a Cherokee Indian.

Aside from her dad being raised on the reservation, then somehow ending up as a famous movie star being kinda insane (no offense to Natives, but most of them have very strong ties to their people and often find jobs on their reservation or even take over a family business), then she has to go between living in LA and the reservation. It ends up being these two convoluted storyline that are forcefully tied together.
