Chapter three; snapdragon

I was jerked awake when Meadow slammed the door behind her as she walked out of the room.
I pulled myself up to a sitting position, rubbed my eyes, and stretched a bit.
"I guess its breakfast." I mumbled to myself.
I got out of bed and changed to look presentable.
I brushed out my hair and threw it into a messy bun.
I slipped some socks on and put my navy blue, worn converse on.
After I got ready I struggled with opening the door a bit.
Once it swinged open, I slipped out and locked it behind me.
Assuming they were somewhere around the town for breakfast I left the motel and started wandering around, looking in the little shops and every food place there was on the first block.
"Hey!" A familiar voice came from behind me.
"Blue!"
I didn't even have to turn around to know it was River.
Only he calls me Blue everyone else calls me by my name or B or something thing like Bell.
He caught up to me and my stomach filled with butterflies once again.
"Hey River." I said smiling, as we kept walking.
"Where are you going? The little food place we are eating at is back there."
"Oh-yeah Meadow left without telling me where we were off to." I said.
"Well c'mon." He said grabbing my hand and quickly leading me back to the shop.
His hand was so smooth and it felt so natural just to be with him.
We walked inside.
it was a very beautiful shop, oak floors, and red and gold wallpaper.
It was way more formal than I imagined.
"Oh we are guests of Mr. Spielberg." River told the hostess.
I flashed her a fake smile and she motioned us to the table everyone was at.
"Thanks for rescuing me." I joked bumping River with my hip.
"Anytime." He whispered winking at me, which only made me pink.
"Bluebell!" Mr. Spielberg boomed over the voices.
I waved and ran over and gave him a quick hug then returned to Riv.
We got to the group, and in the mix was, Keanu Reeves, Corey Haim, Ralph Mucchio, Meadow, Jaeden Lieberher (who I had worked with before), and Lilia Buckingham one of my friends.
River pulled a chair for me to sit in, then sat next to me.
"Thanks."
He smiled at me.
"This is Keanu, Corey, Jaeden, Ralph, Lilia, and you know Meadow." River said as they all smiled.
"I'm Bluebell." I said.
"Wow neat name." Corey said.
He seemed maybe a couple years younger than me.
"Yeah it's beautiful." Keanu said. He was kinda attractive, and seemed nice.
Ralph started cracking up to something Meadow said.
"Well you two get along." I joked.
They couldn't stop laughing, and luckily the waitress arrived.
"What can I get you guys today?" She said.
"Oh uh-Ralph and I will split a breakfast burrito please." Meadow said.
I watched the waitress scribble on her pad of paper, and Corey and Lilia took their order, but I blocked it out.
"Blue, Blue.."
"Oh sorry." I said.
River looked at me and raised his eyebrows waiting for me to say something.
Why is he looking at m-oh my order!
"Sorry-I'll..uh..I'll have the fruit platter please." I said.
"Do you have any vegan options besides the fruit?" He asked.
The waitress looked at him like he just got his arm bitten off by an animal.
"Ya know like food, that doesn't kill animals? No meat, fish, cheese..." I started.
"Yeah I know kid, Just didn't think at this age-"
"Nevermind." River interrupted her.
He rolled his eyes and shoved the menu at her.
She made an annoyed sound and slugged off to the kitchen.
"Well shes a bitch." I said turning to River.
His hand was on his forehead and he was facing down on the table, messing with his fork.
"People are just so annoying, what don't they understand. I'm only eating fruits and vegetables and things like that because I don't want to kill a harmless animals so I can stay alive." He said sitting up.
"Other humans don't go around raising people just to kill them to eat them, so why do it to harmless creatures that can't do anything to protect themselves." He said.
"I understand." I said.
He looked at me.
"When I was old enough to understand how we get eggs or bacon on our plate, I stopped eating meat, fish cheese, everything that came from an animal." I said smiling.
"I've never met anyone my age who is like me." He said as he began to perk up.
The waitress came back with a plate full of animal my fruit plate, and a salad.
She put the salad in front of River, "Look kid usually I can only serve salads for lunch and dinner but your pretty neat, so your welcome."
"Wow, thanks ma'am." He said smiling.
She walked away and River looked at his food, stunned.
"That as pretty cool." I said smiling.
"Yeah." He agreed as we all ate.
People who were finished got up and talked to one another.
I got some water and Keanu came up to me.
He was really nice and funny.
I scanned around the room, and River was talking to Jaeden, and Corey.
Every now and then we would, exchange looks.
I didn't mind it.
It was like a game of eye tag.
Once everyone was finished socializing, Steven told us to wonder around town and hangout, get comfortable with one another.
I walked towards the exit following everyone, and headed for the record store.
"Hey Blue."
I turned around quickly and exhaled when I saw River.
"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you." He chuckled.
"You didn't scare me! I didn't even flinch.." I joked.
"Whatever you say."
I felt his hand brush mine, and butterflies rushed through me.
He moved  loser to me and I shyly tucked my hair behind my ears.
He smiled genuinely at me.
That smile.
Everything that had every worried me, or caused me pain, was gone.
"Hey Blue..."
"Yeah?"
