Reading tips:

This is set in an alternate universe.

Lady Eirlys/Ren Astor         {Eirly's thought}

--------------------------------------

"My lady, Queen Felicity invites you to join her.

She is hosting a tea party in the castle this afternoon."

"I'm not interested.

I don't want to go."

{It's not like anything interesting is going to happen anyway. Queen Felicity's tea party usually involves giggles, fangirling about Lord Lucien Fairfax and daydreaming. Queen Felicity wants us to praise how handsome, clever, charismatic and talented Lord Lucien is, but we are not allowed to 'chase after' him. To be honest, I'm really not interested. Lord Lucien isn't that handsome or smart as a matter of fact. Ren is way more... Stop!}

"My lady, Queen Felicity has sent more than 5 invitations this week and you turned down every single one of them.

Is that what you're taught in etiquette lesson?

Or have you thrown them all away as soon as you left schoolroom?"

{Queen Felicity hosts a tea party nearly every single day! If I go to everyone of them, will I still be able to do things I like? All she does is hosting parties! Everything is handled by the reagent, Lord Lucien's father.}

"Told her I'm not feeling well."

"You have a stomachache, headache, migraine, fever and palpitation for the past 5 days, my lady.

At this rate you're going to die."

"Are you cursing me, Ren?

Your boss, your lady?"

"Of course not, my lady. I'm merely stating facts and what Queen Felicity might think.

She has a very simple mind, as you should know.

 And a combination of fever, headache, stomachache and palpitation for 5 consecutive days might drive her to believe that you're dying.

The next thing you know she might be hosting a funeral for you.

So be careful, my lady."

{Alright, although he exaggerated it a bit. Queen Felicity is certainly... childlike. Last time I turned down her invitation by telling her I was having a slight migraine (for 6 consecutive days), she came barging into my room ( I was having a fun time reading) in this pained and worried expression. Now that I thought of it, tomorrow is the 6th day I called in sick. It's hard being an aristocrat these days.}

"Fine.

By the way any new gossips about Queen's future consort, Lucien?"

"Do you think I will be interested in whether golden boy Lucien's new coat has rose embroidery or lily embroidery?

I have better things to do."

"He has a new coat?

I'm so out of gossips. Queen Felicity will not be happy."

"Her name literally means happiness.

I doubt she needs you to worry for her, my lady."

"I don't like the way you're talking to me."

{You're my subjects now! You are no longer the great heir to Astor's house. So don't you dare talking to me in this sarcastic tone of yours! Granted, it's all Lucien's father fault. He framed Ren's father and now Astor's house is in ruins.}

"Do you think I care what you like or don't like, my lady?"

"I'm your boss!"

"Not for long, my lady."

"Wait... you don't mean..."

"Now, my lady, don't you have to prepare for your tea party?

I'll send for your abigail."

"Wait! What are you planning?"

{He gives me a villainous smirk and without looking back, walks out of the room.}

Author's note

I had fun writing this chapter! An alternate universe where Eirlys is the lady and Lord Astor is the sidekick?

Lady Eirlys: Really... I think I act more like the sidekick even though I'm supposed to be the lady? His boss??? =_=

Hope you had fun reading this!!

See you next time!

P.S. The titles of all these bonus chapters are inspired by songs I was listening to when I wrote them XD See if you can guess them?
