Chapter 7: The emerald forest

(After ozpins speech and everyone's gathered on the launch platforms)

(Ozpin pov)
I was standing on the cliffs edge alongside Glynda giving a speech to the new initiates about to be put to the test over their entrance into beacon reviewing them some such as Ms.Nikos and Ms.Xiao Long looked liked they'd have no trouble with the upcoming trials ahead of them however my concern shifted towards the more brash and impulsive such as Ms.Rose who seemed to be able to handle herself fairly well however the same was yet to be seen by Mr.Arc who seemed to be confused with the reasoning of the cliff having to do with their intiation

Ozpin:"for years you have trained to become warriors and your abilities will be evaluated in the emerald forest"

Glynda:"now I'm sure many of you have heard rumors of the assignment of teams,well allow us to put an end to your confusion,each of you will be given teammates...today"

I noticed Ms.Rose grumble upon hearing this

Ozpin:"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at beacon, so it is within your best interests for you to be paired up with someone with whom you can work well"

Ms.Rose grumbles again

Ozpin:"that being said,first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years"

Ruby:(dramatic)"WHAT!?!"

"See I told you" I heard Ms.Valkyrie tell Mr.lie ren standing next to her

Ozpin:"after you've partnered up make your way to the northern end of the forest you will meet opposition along the way do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path...or you will die"

I saw Mr.Arc giggle nervously before gulping meanwhile Ms.Valkyrie simply gave a smile towards Mr.lie ren

Ozpin:"you will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation but our instructors will not intervene, you will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics, each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff,we will regard that item as well as your standing and grade you appropriately...are there any questions?"

Jaune:"yeah uh sir?-"

Ozpin:"good take your positions"

All the initiates began to take their stances on board their platforms as Mr.Arc raised his hand

Jaune:"uh sir I've got a question" he started as one by one the students began to launch of their platforms

Jaune:" so this landing strategy thing uh w-what is it your like dropping us off or something?"

Ozpin:"no,you will be falling"
