"HOME IS WHERE THE FUCKING HEART IS."

THE BRIGHTNESS OF Diagon Alley made Madeleine's heart skip several beats as the family made their way into the busy street. Celeste raised her hood as people started staring at her, but Sabrina cast vicious glances in the way of anyone who set eyes on her mother. Madeleine couldn't help but snort as her mother came into view, making Sabrina curl her lip. However, she returned to normal and wore a bright smile as soon as she saw Draco.

Celeste placed her hands on Madeleine's shoulders as they were approached by the two, moving her behind her body softly. Narcissa attempted to smile at Celeste, but the woman only shot her cousin a dirty look in response. "How are you doing, Madeleine?"

"She's doing perfectly fine, Narcissa. We healed her injuries fairly well, she's thriving now." Sabrina had to cover her mouth so she wouldn't laugh, but when her mother was angry with someone, it became funny very fast. "Come along, girls. Remus would like to go to Flourish and Blotts."

Celeste gently pushed the girls forward and sent a last look to Narcissa before looking straight ahead again. In front of Narcissa, stood Draco, who watched with eyes that yearned to run to his sister. But Narcissa had a hard grip on her son's shoulder, almost passing the message through that he was not to go after her. Though it hurt the woman to see her daughter with another family— not to mention so much happier— Narcissa had to do whatever she could to stop their family from falling apart. If that meant sending her daughter away, so be it.

As Madeleine was guided away, she couldn't help but frown and look behind her shoulder at her brother once more. Mustering up the best smile she could, she glanced at him again before entering Flourish and Blotts with the Lupins. It hurt, of course it did. She missed her mother and brother so much that she could feel her heart and stomach aching, it was hurting down to her core, but there was nothing that she could do. She had to accept it.

Walking into the store, the blonde girl breathed in the scent of books— Sabrina didn't understand how books could have a scent but shrugged and told Madeleine, "You do you,"— before running her fingers over the spines.

Getting increasingly irritated with the busyness of the shop, Sabrina looked up at her mother and rubbed her ears. "Who knew it was possible to enjoy books? I certainly don't."

Celeste laughed and glanced down at the girl, reaching out a hand to move a strand of hair from her face. "You pick up a book and don't even get past the first line, sweetheart."

"Don't bully me."

Celeste laughed loudly and diverted her attention to her husband, who was holding two copies of The Monster Book of Monsters. Beside him, Maddie was trying to keep the books under control. Sabrina attempted to cover up a laugh but failed. "You look ridiculous."
