Daylight.

Daylight is something that serves a dual purpose when it comes to the concept of time.

As the sun first breaks through the horizon, earning that time of day the name daybreak, living creatures across the entirety of earth know to rise from their slumber and commence another long day. Daylight is a sign to use time wisely.

When the sun sinks back into the horizon and night descends upon the earth, a sense of closure falls on those that spent their time well and a sense of unrest falls upon those that wasted theirs. Daylight is also a reminder that time lost cannot be regained.

When Stiles woke up on Monday, daylight barely had the chance to illuminate Beacon Hills. Faint light shown through his blinds and caused him to squint as his body forced him to get up. After a minute or two, his eyes adjusted and he could see tiny dust particles floating around his room and he sighed before sitting up and heading for the bathroom.

Since returning to Beacon Hills three days before, Stiles had, against his own wishes, woken up long before most of the rest of town. After waking up at the crack of dawn on Saturday, he tried desperately to go back to sleep, but in vain. Anxiety nipped at his bones and seeped in from the recesses of his mind, keeping him from falling asleep again. Eventually, he gave up and got out of bed, starting his day before most others would ever want to. When it happened again on Sunday, Stiles didn't even bother trying to go back to sleep.

After throwing on a clean shirt and some sports shorts, Stiles quietly crept to the kitchen to get some quick food. After deciding oatmeal would be nice, Stiles was sure to make enough for his father to have some as well when he woke up.

After talking to the Pack and the few others, Stiles had gone home to finally take the nap he was going to have before finding Ramahila's letter. As soon as his head hit his pillow, he was out and he didn't wake till his father arrived home much later that night.

Stiles knew that he would never forget his father's reaction to hearing where Stiles had been that whole time. It broke his heart to watch his father start crying in front of him. He was so tempted to water down his story just to save his father the pain but Stiles knew his father deserved the truth.

The sheriff tried to treat Stiles the same as before, but Stiles could see the sadness in his eyes when they spoke. Stiles understood; no parent wants to hear of their child suffering immensely in their absence. Nevertheless, Stiles found himself avoiding his father over the weekend, hoping that given some time, the sheriff would feel less remorse when he looked into Stiles' eyes.

As a result, Stiles had spent most of his time at Mason's house where Mason was helping him make a searching algorithm in hopes of discovering if anyone else had information on earth 816. Stiles would give key words and descriptions that Mason would then integrate into the computer coding. Stiles knew Mason was smart but he never realized just how intelligent he really was.
