Her heart beat faster the longer she ran

She had less stamina then he did, but she could climb and the mountains where Bella had first found out what Edward was were close

But not close enough

She felt like she was drowning in emotion. The physical pain she felt from running so long became numb. Her sister had sank, and tried to use Leo as her life raft. 

Only problem was Leo didn't float. 

Stone hearts sink.

Her love for Embry had faded. She knew deep down it would be there always, a little sharp pang when she saw couples kissing in the streets, or holding hands and pushing a baby stroller. 

But her heart had broken into so many pieces

It shattered. 

And there's no room for anything in a shattered heart

Her world had collapsed, but rebuilded itself during dark times. This world was hers, one where Embry would never be.

"Leo wait"

Both of them shifted. She stood on an overhang at the height of the canopy peak, and he was on a boulder he had struggled to climb

"Please Leo I love you. But you're acting different. So hard. Don't shut us out Leo, we're only here to protect you"
