The Monster

                          Eyelids growing heavy
Body feeling light
Fading to darkness
Into the depths of the night
                          "Don't fall."
My mind says to me
"What's behind that wall?
As you fall to sleep, you get weak."
                          "Don't listen to the midnight songs
singing you to sleep."
So I keep myself awake
I feel the need to weep
                          "Don't let it get to you,
Everything you know bad"
But I don't know what to do
With the feelings that I had
                          "Go to sleep now,
Try not to worry"
Now I don't believe it
Mixed signals are getting blurry
                          "Close your eyes,
Don't think about it anymore"
So I close my eyes
And a monster comes through the door
