Walking on sunshine
Squeaking on the floor
So sad they smashed you foot
In the door

Sign your prosthetic
So when you look down on it
You think of them

They offer you help
Not expecting your foot to grow back
You probably still could run for track

An inspiration
Motivation
They see you as some god
As some type of revelation
They want to know what it's like
Each and every sensation
You're the next evolution of this revolution

Because you smashed your foot in the door

I'm born with depression
The manifestation
Of my brain
Causing my physical pain
From my mental suffering

No one can sign a brain
I can't look down and think of them
When all my motivation is drained

People do try to help
But they don't get that it's a chemical imbalance
They get frustrated and leave
When they realize they're not a fix

I'm looked down on
You can't see my disorder
As if it were drawn
Out on my wrist with crimson red ink

Crying out for help is not solicitation
It's not for peers attention
It's sleep deprivation
And having no motivation
To get up and be alive

It's not a decision
It's not always traumatization
It's a lack of dopamine or serotonin
Everyone needs to have the realization
Of what depression actually is
