A While (Drabble)

I felt the soft breeze just wafting onto my skin like silk, like soft hands touching me gently. A hum rumbled in my throat, appreciatively and happily.

I caught glimpse of the moon in its full beauty, shining like a ghostly pearl in the soot-black heavens among the shimmering diamonds I came to know as stars. Though it was mesmerizing to look upon, all eyes were trained on me.

It was our night after all.

I walk down the white carpet leisurely, my breath constricting and my heart getting caught up in my throat. I want to faint but I didn't want it to be over. Not now, not ever.

I then saw you smiling at me at the end of the aisle, looking so painfully handsome in your tux. My palms were getting sweaty, nervousness catching up with me as I took another step closer to you, to our everlasting.

I felt my skin tingle when you took my hand and stood face to face with me in front of all the people who loved us in the years that had passed. But I never loved anyone more than you.

It must have been a dream when you smiled at me and we both said "I do" because my head was getting fuzzy by then, my brain barely registering you calling me your husband.

It was then that I woke up, realizing that it was a dream until your arms wrapped around my tummy and you snuggled closer. It was real after all; it was a memory.

I heard you say "Ni, what's wrong?" and I turned to face you, your chocolate eyes still luscious even in the darkness that only our bedside table lamp illuminated.

I replied, "Nothing, Li. Just a dream about you and me," and you started laughing so sweetly. And every morning it was like that.

I smile, you smile. We kiss for a while.
