Chapter 8

While walking towards the school, I started thinking that maybe it is time to tell Diana and Stella about my secret, about me being Thea Walter, because albeit I have known them for only a few days, I trust them and I know them enough to say that they'll understand. It will be whole lot easier to talk to them when they'll know about me, without worrying about saying something that might reveal my mask.

Deciding that I will tell them soon, I entered the school building and went to my locker. I took out my book for the first period and shut the locker. I turned and saw that Diana and Stella were standing there next to my locker, grinning like idiots.

"Hey guys. Umm why are you both so smiley smiley today?" I asked, curiously.

They looked at each other and then Stella was the one to reply, "Do you remember when we told you about Tyler?" I nodded, they told me about a guy, Tyler, who was their other best friend but he transferred to another school for some reason. Stella continued, "So apparently he got in some big trouble in his school, so they had to expel him and now he is joining this school again." They both squealed and I smiled. I was happy for them and excited to meet Tyler, from what I have heard, he is a great guy, very friendly and full of mischief.

"When is he coming?"

"Oh, he is already here but has gone to catch up with some of his friends. You'll meet him in the break time, we have already told him about you and he is excited to meet you." Diana said, jumping a little, I have no idea why. I nodded and went to Arts class with Diana.

I was sitting in my science class with Diana and Stella. They showed me who Tyler was because he was in all my classes, till now. But we haven't been properly introduced yet because he is either talking to someone or the teacher is already there. When the bell rang, I signed in relief. It's not that I don't like studying because I do but right now, I don't feel like studying. We parted our ways to go to our locker and then meet up in the cafeteria. I put my books in the locker and closed it. I walked into the cafeteria and went to take my food but something, or someone actually blocked my way. As expected, Ashley was standing in front of me with her two minions, Jacky and Amber. Here we go again.

"Look who we have here? Little Miss confident, isn't it?" Ashley said, while laughing.

"No actually, its Thea John but don't bother your little brain to remember because it's already doing more than it can, poor thing." I smirked, seeing her grin dropping and she scowled. It actually took her a minute till she figured that I insulted her and she lunged at me. But me being me, I moved quickly making her fall on the floor, face down. I didn't notice that we gathered a crowd till now and they were laughing by now. I saw that Diana, Stella and Tyler were also there standing and laughing; I was trying to control my laughter but couldn't help it when I saw Ashley's expression; it was mixed with anger and embarrassment. She shouted at everyone to stop laughing but no one listened except they just laughed louder, she stomped her feet, glared at them, and of course at me, then stormed out of the cafeteria, with her minions following behind her. The crowd started to clear up; few came to me and said thanks for standing against her. I don't like the 'standing against her' notion but I can't help it when it comes to my temper, things can get messy then. Anyway, someone had to tell her what she deserves, and unfortunately for her that's me.

I chuckled before exiting the cafeteria with my food tray in hand and went to the back of the school. That is where we eat our lunch, because that place is usually less crowded. Our school has two gates; one in the front and the other at the side where we eat, and get a view of the road and the cars passing by.

I saw that Diana, Stella and Tyler were already sitting at our usual table. I sat down next to Tyler and opposite to Diana and Stella. They were smiling proudly, because it was a normal thing for them now but not for Tyler; maybe that is why he had his jaw dropped and wide eyes, staring at me.

"Hey" I said to my friends. Diana and Stella greeted back but not Tyler because he was still in shock, I guess, so I turned towards him and said, "Hi I am Thea".

When I greeted him, he seems to have recovered from his shock and instead of taking my hand which I brought up to shake his; he surprised me by pulling me in a hug, I returned the hug, a little startled before pulling back.

"Hey, I am Tyler Brown. And you're Thea, I know. What you did to Ashley was epic. I was shocked, like who is this Chica to compete with 'the queen'." He said, laughing.

I laughed with him and said, "Yeah, I know it can be shocking but I can't help it, she just gets on my nerves and by now also, she doesn't understand to back down and stop it."

We continued to talk and I came to know that Tyler's parent sent him to another school because his siblings were studying there and they wanted them to be together but to their surprise, Tyler didn't quite 'fit' in there, so here he is. He is a tall well built guy with a strong jaw. His dark, wavy hair is kind of shaggy but in a way that complements his green eyes. His father is a successful lawyer and his mother is a homemaker. After talking to him, I realised that he is in fact, a friendly and funny person.

The bell rang and I went to my class with Tyler and Stella and I was right, Tyler was in all my classes, even music; he told me he loves to play.

Tyler and I walked in the music room together. After a while, Ms Wood entered, she turned towards us and said, "Hello class, today I am going to give you all your first assignment. You will be doing it in a pair of two. You and your partner have to prepare a song and then perform it after a few weeks or so. I'll put up the date in advance so don't worry. You can discuss the song then let me know, so that I will know what song you are gonna perform and that nobody has the same song. The song type is up to you but remember that this assignment will be important if you want to take part in the music competition and if you want good grades. Everyone's clear, any question?" Everyone shook their heads in no, so Ms Wood continued, "So scram now"

Everyone moved from here to there, in search of their partners. I sat in my place thinking whom should I be partner with. Just then, out of nowhere someone came and pulled me in a hug. I stumbled in the person's chest and let out 'oomph'. I pulled back and saw that it was Tyler.

"Tyler! What the hell. You scared me, don't do that again." I hissed, controlling my heartbeats.

"Oh, it's nothing. And guess what we're partners now. Yeah!" he said, while fist pumping in the air.

I laughed at his immaturity but agreed, even though I don't think I had a choice. We decided to discuss which song we're going to perform tomorrow because the class was almost over. We spent the rest of the time goofing around, strumming some tunes on the guitar.

The day finally ended and I realised that soon I'll have to tell them my secret and I don't know how they'll react. I just know that now is not the time. I just met Tyler and although I trust Diana and Stella, this is just a little too big a deal.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.
