She had snuck out easier than before. Security was getting laxer and laxer - it was like something big had happened. Gossip had been going around throughout the guards about Priest - that he had left, got the sack, quit or even died (Bart liked to fantasise about the last one - if he wasn't dead, he would be soon!) - and naturally she had picked most of it up. The likelihood was that he was probably just on holiday, not dead but everyone had their hopes up. So, this was obviously the opportune time to escape. Riggins was mentally jumbled, staying mainly in his office puzzling over a collection of papers and it had been obvious to Bart that the cameras and microphones were off since they had first turned off. Which had confused her, because what Project here would have the audacity to do something like that? And how would they get up there without getting caught? It was mind-boggling, and Bart decided to instead thank the person who had committed the (as it technically was one) crime rather than questioning what their motives were.
She didn't pass anyone in the corridors, didn't talk to anyone or make any stupid mistakes. Not this time.
Escaping the compound was easy. Yes, it was a CIA base but their security was pathetic in comparison to what it should have been.
She wasn't like Frey, like Myles. She didn't even hesitate as she slipped past the doors of Projects she knew or even the ones who she had yet to meet. She didn't feel the urge to save anyone but herself, because she was selfish and emotionless. An assassin. Bart Curlish.
No stopping to think about Frey. No hesitation as she sprinted past his door. He didn't care, he had too many things on his mind at the moment to care about the insignificant assassin girl. There was no point even waiting around any longer, she had got too impatient. Why were they waiting? Now was the best time!
And if they weren't going to take it, Bart was.
There was only an inch of regret as she sprinted away from the compound in which she had been trapped for god knows how long. The regret of leaving them all behind without so much as a notice was a bit cruel, but she pushed it aside. This was what she wanted, right? Escape. Isolation. The chance to be by herself, free, again.
Yes. She was free again. Free to be Bart Curlish, holistic assassin.
