Scout rushed, dodging missiles and bombs and bullets from the other team. Earlier, Miss Pauling told him that she would be watching him in battle today. He took this opportunity to show her his stealthy moves. He was slipping past bullets from Heavy, head-shots from Sniper, and even a back-stab from Spy. When he had grabbed the briefcase for the third time, he knew he was going to impress her.
Scout slung the intelligence over his back and ran out of the room. He ran into an Engineer on the way. He pulled his scatter-gun out on and killed him, running to the outside of the base. He sprinted out of the base smirking at himself. To no ones surprise, he got the briefcase back to his own base three times without the other team even laying a finger on theirs.
Instead of going with his team to celebrate his amazing victory, he ran to Mann Co.'s main building and waited for Miss Pauling to come out. When she did, she jogged up to him and wrapped her arms around him, standing on the tips of her toes.
"Amazing performance out there!" she told him.
Scout gave a shrug like it was nothing, even though it was obviously something. He worked so hard today to impress her, but he wanted to make her think it was his usual. "That's how I always am."
"Scout, don't try to lie. I watch a lot of your battles. You usually don't try that hard," she said.
He stuttered an apology. "I- I am s-orry-y I didn't-t mean," He was interrupted by Miss Pauling pulling him into a kiss. He had his eyes wide open. Holy crap! This is actually happening! She is kissing me! Stay cool, don't freak out, stay calm, he thought to himself, closing his eyes. He rested his hands on her waste, and kissed her back.
The only thing that Scout could think was that all of his hard work was totally worth it.
