Picture of Emily Osment as Lily

Seven

I fight sleep as I lean on the armchairs in the school auditorium. I see Stacy's mom, Mayor Green, speaking through the microphone, but I barely pay attention to her as my mind flips back to the events that happened last night.

"He can leave..." Dan's words jumble my mind, does he mean that because we came back to the woods that Mr. Red can leave. I've got a bad feeling about this..

I look aside me  to see everyone grouped together, I edge myself close to them, careful not to draw attention as I listen to Mayor Green.

"...and I want to assure everyone that the doctors and staff at Westchester General are watching over Mr. Pierce," she says with a sad frown.  I tune her out as I sit by Lily. Andy and Ava are explaining to them what happened last night.

Stacy's brows furrow as she frowns," Wood dogs, now that just seems absurd,"

"It's real, they were wooden with amber eyes and everything!" Andy says in a hushed whisper.

"M-Maybe they worked for Mr. Red, like his minions," Lily pipes in. Stacy looks as if her stomach twisted into knots.

"Oh great, he couldn't kill of Dan himself so he sends his pet dogs to do his dirty work,"

"I don't think Mr. Red, wanted to kill Dan," All eyes are on me now. "Think about it, if Dan was by himself and Mr. Red found him, he would've been helpless with no way on defending himself. Mr. Red could've easily killed him then. I think those dogs were trying to take Dan back to the ruins. We just happened to show up to stop them from succeeding,"

"Jeez..." Noah rests his cupped hands on his forehead, looking drained. "I barely got any sleep last night, what we saw back there was frickin' horrifying," he sighs.

"Was Lucas filled in?" I ask, Andy nods, saying he sent him a text last night.

"Well, speaking of Mr. Red, I've gotta tell you guys what happened to me earlier," Ava announces. She tells us about her encounter with Jocelyn, and the locker ordeal, which shocked the hell out of me.

"So, you just grow telekinesis powers, all of a sudden?" I ask, she shrugs.

"I don't know, but it was sick. I just felt it and it happened!" she's gleaming in excitement. Lily seemed conflicted, however.

"D-Do you think Mr. Red gave you those powers?" She asks subtly. "M-Maybe he'll try controlling you, like a thrall," Ava scoffs at her deduction.

"The day Redfield controls me into his puppet will be the day hell freezes," she rolls her eyes.

I watch as Mayor Green step down as Lucas takes her place. My heart flutters again as I remember what happened at the coffee shop.

Stacy gives me a look. "You okay, Seven? You're cheeks are red as hell," I shake my head as Ava cackles.

"He's fine, just totally swooning over Lucas," I punch her on her arm.

"Cállate, and I am not swooning!" I cross my arms defensively as she gives me a goofy smirk.

"You sure, lover-boy?" I turn back to Lucas. His bright smile brings the butterflies in my stomach to life, his black-rimmed glasses hid his mocha brown eyes which I seem to drown in, and his soft lips...

Ava snaps in my face, startling me. I narrow my eyes and push her aside. Everyone laughed lightly at our banter, and I couldn't help but smile. I focus my attention to Lucas, however, who's giving the audience the "Bear Safety" speech he gives every year. He picks my face out of the crowd, and gives me a discreet wink, which makes my cheeks burn as I lower my head, a smirk couldn't help but grow. An idea strikes me.
