The next day I find myself waiting impatiently through every class for the afternoon to come. Not because I want it to be here sooner, but because I want it to be over. Wherever it is that Dumbledore is taking us will not be safe, nor particularly enjoyable. I can't wait to get it over with. Finally, my last class ends and I hurry back to my dorm room. I shower quickly and change out of my uniform and into normal clothes. I take one final look at myself in the mirror and bite my lip. Horcrux killer. Let's do this.

I step out of the bathroom and Pansy looks up from her book. She walks over to me, pulling me into a hug, followed swiftly by Millie and then finally Daphne. I roll my eyes at them as they pull away. They don't know where I'm going or what we're trying to do, they just know that it's dangerous.

"Keep yourself safe, dumbass, alright?" Pansy smiles,

Millie sighs, "I've never understood why you and your brother do this stuff. It's insane."

"We're insane," I laugh, walking over to my bed and picking up my wand. Ink lies curled up in a ball at the end of my bed and stretches when I disturb the blankets around her. I press a kiss to her head, smiling.

"Don't you dare end up in the hospital wing, either, I've spent too much time in there this year," Daphne says,

I turn to them, rocking from heel to toe, "I'll do my best."

We stand in silence for a moment, not quite sure of how to say goodbye. I shrug, walking over towards the door and waving over my shoulder. I'll be late if I procrastinate any more than I already have.

"Don't die, idiot," Pansy yells after me, and I scoff,

"I'll do my best!" I call over my shoulder.

The door closes behind me and I walk quickly down towards the common room where I know Draco will be waiting. He's been unreasonably anxious today, and though I know I've been the same, I really would have appreciated it if he had been level-headed. Then again, I don't think there's been a moment this year where I could have described him as such.

When I enter the common room it is very quiet, more so than normal, and Draco stands, leaning against the back of the couch, his fingers tapping against the fabric. He looks up at me, forcing a smile. I walk over to him, smiling, and the moment I'm in reach he pulls me into a hug. I laugh,

"I'll be fine, Draco."

He hugs me tighter, pressing a kiss to the side of my head.

"Don't do anything stupid." He says, pulling back and looking me in the eye,

I sigh, "No promises."

"I'm being serious,"

"I promise." I kiss him gently, deeply, breathing him and feeling the warmth of his body against mine. I want to memorise him. I pull back, "I'll be back for dinner. You'll barely notice I'm gone."

"You're my best friend. Of course, I'll notice when you're gone. You leave a giant gaping hole. Who am I meant to make fun of without you here?" He smiles, genuinly now,

I nod to Blaise, who is pretending to study over by the fire when really he's listening intently, "I'm sure Blaise is a close substitute."

Blaise rolls his eyes without looking up from his book, "I am not having sex with him."

"I said no such thing!" I exclaim, pretending to be insulted by the thought. Blaise looks up at me,

"Good luck with your crazy treasure hunt, Clara. Come back in one piece, please. I don't want to have to be Draco's rebound."

"I've set the bar too high, I know," I smirk, and he sticks out his tongue.

Draco tilts his head, bringing my attention back to him, and I smile, kissing him quickly. "I have to go,"

I can see tears forming in his eyes, but I try to ignore them. If he cries I'll cry too. "Stay safe, darling." He says quietly, and I squeeze his hand,

"Stay safe."

I hurry through the castle, ignoring the gloom that hangs in the air. A storm is brewing and I can smell rain in the air. I guarantee a thunderstorm tonight, though the clouds seem determined to remain sealed for the time being. The sky is so dark you'd think it's night time as I climb the astronomy tower. I reach the top, surprisingly not out of breath, and see Dumbledore standing by the archway where the tower gives way to the view of the grounds, his hands resting on the cast-iron bannister. He looks over to me,

"Clara," He smiles warmly, a smile I've hardly seen these last few years, "Look at you, a young lady no less."

I roll my eyes, walking up to him, "I'm no more a lady then you are a Hyppogriff."

"You were so small when we brought you here. I didn't think we'd made the right choice, but Minerva and Severus were determined to raise you as a witch." He muses, looking back towards the landscape, "You are so like your mother. You turned out better than even I expected."

I smile, kissing him lightly on the cheek. He chuckles, and then his eyes focus on Harry, who has just appeared at the top of the stairs. I turn, smiling,

"You need to shave," I chuckle, and he laughs at me, dismissing my comment entirely. Dumbledore smiles at the two of us, and then his manner changes. He becomes serious and stern,

"The place to which we journey tonight is extremely dangerous. I promised you could accompany me and I stand by that promise." He says, eyeing the both of us, "But there is one condition. You must obey every command I give you without question."

Harry and I glance at each other, then back to Dumbledore. "Yes, sir." We say in unison, before sharing a look of slight disgust.

"You do understand what I'm saying? Should I tell you to hide, you hide. Should I tell you to run, you run. Should I tell you to abandon me and save yourself, you must do so. Your word, both of you." Dumbledore says,

"My word," Harry murmurs,

I nod, "I promise."

Dumbledore holds out his arm, seemingly satisfied by our agreement. My heart leaps. "Take my arm."

"But sir, I thought you couldn't apparate within Hogwarts?" Harry says quickly, taking Dumbledore's arm regardless,

Dumbledore smiles at him, "Well, being me has its privileges."
