I hid behind the tree as Lea, Alexis, and Caitlyn tried to calm me down, until the teacher called for us to line up to go back inside. Alexis grabbed me arm and led me to the front, as I hid behind her, burying my head into her back. I kept my head down, wishing the earth would just swallow me. I finally felt brave enough to peek above Alexis's shoulder to see him turning toward me staring me down with those puppy dog eyes laughing, mouthing "no" over and over and-

#

I jolted awake in a cold sweat, my eyes trying to make out anything in the still darkness of my room.  Meanwhile, I couldn't decide whether to clutch my blanket closer, or throw off me completely and stand in the fridge. I grabbed my phone from off the table, and checked the time:

4:17.

"Ugh." I groaned, falling back onto my pillow.
