Alex's POV

I heard quiet voices, as if it were from far away. I didn't know where I was. An empty, dark black room? Suddenly, the voices faded away and I was in science class next to Bev, doodling on half a sheet of lined paper with my favorite orange pen.

Our teacher asked Stan, who was on the other side of the room a question about elements, which he answered quickly and correctly. I rolled my eyes at his "question confidence" as he calls it and the teacher praises him before moving on to another student for the pop quiz.

The teacher continues her line of kids to ask questions and eventually, the question lands on me and I quickly hide my doodling page before looking up. "Alex" she whispers, I furrow my eyebrows. She never calls me Alex, although I would like her to. She only ever calls me Alexandria. "Wake up" the teacher says. "Huh?" I ask, a few of the kids whisper things I can't make out to each other. "Wake up!" She says in a quiet, annoyed tone. "Wake the hell up!" She says, yelling. I give her a confused look, although I can feel my heart beginning to beat faster. "Goddammit! Wake up Alex!!!" I hear for the third time just before everything around me starts to disappear.

"WAKE UP FOR FUCKS SAKE!" Richie shouts right in my face, instinctively making me jump up on my bed and accidentally bump heads with him. "Aw fuck" I mumble, rubbing my forehead.

Richie falls onto the floor and groans, slapping his palm onto his forehead. Even though I'm kind of in pain, I laugh at him.

"What the hell?" He squints, sounding as if he just woke up. Almost as if he read my mind, he says "I just woke up..." along with another quiet groan. "A minute ago" he finishes. "Why the fuck did you need to wake me up for then?" I say in a raspy voice, my eyes half open with my brows furrowed. "Because of that" he points at the window I'm sitting next to.

I look at it and roll my eyes. "That. Is. The. Fucking. Window!" I whisper in frustration. He scoffs and gets up from the ground.

"Not that," he gets on the bed to reach the window and he pulls open the curtains to show the plain black night. He points at a moving figure from the houses driveway, "That".

I look at it, squinting my eyes and trying to stay awake. My eyes immediately widen when I realize what and who it is. "It's been doing weird things out there for like 10 minutes now" Richie comments next to me. "Probably some stupid Drunk Dude, right?"

"What's the time, Rich?" I ask, not taking my eyes off of the figure I think I might know. "Richie, tell me the time!" I snap at him, him quickly looking at his watch and saying "I-it's... fucking 2:27 in the morning!" His eyes widening in disbelief. He covers his eyes with both hands for a second, letting out a groan probably at how early it is.

I scoff at the person for I now know for sure who it is. Richie furrows his eyebrows at me as I hop off of the bed and walk into the hall. He slowly follows behind me, confused at where I'm going.

One by one I skip down the steps downstairs and I grab a small trash can as I walk to the front door. Richie is still following me, looking very cautious and tense. I let out a breathy laugh as I unlock and open the door, revealing my oldest cousin, Sam, holding a glass bottle of beer, drunk out of his mind on the driveway.

I roll my eyes and walk outside to get him. The cold cement stings my bare feet, but right now I'm mostly focused on how annoyed I am at him for having to wake me up.

I grab his wrist with a tight grip and walk him to the front door, where Richie stood. I rolled my eyes again and covered my face, almost forgetting that he was here, watching the whole scene that seems to be happening more often now due to it being summer. I am half embarrassed and half mad at the moment, but that won't stop me from going back to sleep when I'm done with him at all.
