T R A G E D Y ' S T E A R S

the rain drizzles down gently,
soft flashes of lightning
behind the windows of a packed bus departing.
my back freckled by drops,
a bright sky with mellow clouds
and mellifluous melodies in my ears.

i've forgotten
the times the sky
sweetly kissed our broken souls,
mending us with its tears

ever since
summer's heat brought a storm
that hung around too long,
that drowned our city,

leaving us wallowing in
lingering destruction,
wondering
how many more tragedies
are to come.

man, hurricanes are wild
