"..SIX IN THE GODDAMN MORNING!" Sams voice tears through the still house, my hand reaching instinctively under my pillow as I jolt up in my bed, his shout only amplified by the fact he INSISTED on taking the room beside mine.
"Lower your voice, are you trying to wake the whole house?" James' muffled voice drifts through the locked door, any pretense of remaining quiet gone, and I relax as I draw myself from bed, albeit irritably.
"Aren't you?" Sam snaps back and I roll my eyes at their arguement, eavesdropping silently as I make my way to the bathroom.
"Not the ENTIRE house, but it's a little late for that. Everyone is waiting downstairs, hurry up."
I hear the door click shut, James' long strides down the hall as he mutters to himself. "Perhaps I should have woken him first, would have saved me some trouble."
I decide to forgo a shower, dressing as quick as I'm able, stepping into the hall just after Sam, my curiosity peaked.
"Woke you up too, eh?" He says by way of greeting and despite my annoyance at being so rudely woken I can't help but smirk.
"Yes, yes you did."
"Don't blame me." He growls, clearly irritated, before motioning to my injured limb with a jerk of his chin. "How's the arm?"
"Better, wouldn't complain if it healed a bit faster though." I shrug, the motion and the pain it brings causing me to wince, and he raises a silent brow, a smirk tugging the corners of his mouth, before striding past me to the stairs.
James frowns as he catches sight of me, a few steps behind Sam as we make our way into the dining room where his brothers are lingering impatiently. While I pull out a chair and make myself comfortable Sam beelines for the back door, his eyes locked to the glass.
"Well, I was trying not to disturb you but since we've woken you up we may as well have breakfast before taking our leave." James sighs, Damien rising to follow as he moves towards the kitchen.
I frown as I remember their planned, and forced, departure but after last night I know I can't let them leave, not until I know for sure, besides...
"It's not safe, he isn't gone."
"I'm sorry?" James asks, pausing as he raises a brow, and Sam speaks up from his place by the double doors, his gaze affixed to the woods.
"She's right, and looks like he brought friends. If you look you can spot movement every few seconds." He jerks his chin towards the forest with a frown, his brothers gathering around the glass to confirm what I suspected yesterday.
"That shouldn't pose us a problem, I think we're recovered enough to make our departure subtle." James muses thoughtfully as he peers into the yard and I huff irritably, opening my mouth to argue when Sam steals the words from my lips.
"And leave her to deal with em herself? I don't fucking think so." He growls, crossing his arms as he glares over to his eldest brother, and I'm surprised by his quick defense.
"Why are they just waiting?" Matthew ponders aloud, sounding a bit unnerved as he steps away from the door.
"Hoping to split us up, pick us off one by one. Makes it easier to take us alive so they can play with us first." Sam spits the word as if it were poisonous, a scowl darkening his face.
James turns and silently makes his way to the kitchen, the depth of his thought clear in the crease of his brow, and Damien trails along behind him, calling back to me with a reassuring smile as they disappear through the doorway.
"Don't worry, we'll figure something out."
"What, the least painless way to die?" I sigh as I plop back down in my seat, gazing drifting to the ceiling.
