XLVIII: Now or Never

Ronnie has been thinking this decision over all night and morning, he didn't know whether he wanted to ask Isabella or not.

He does like her very much, but he's afraid that her feelings towards him aren't the same or as strong and he doesn't want to make things awkward between the two.

She could tell something was off about him as he didn't do much talking in English class. She asked was he alright and he answered that he was fine and just had a lot on his mind

Later that day after Science was over, he decided he would go ahead and get this out of his system as it was like a looming cloud over his head.

He's been rejected in the past before, but this time he feels it just might really break his heart and he wants to avoid that at all cost.

She had left class already once the bell had rung as he quickly got his stuff together and went after her.

He saw her at her locker getting some books as he took a deep breath and started to head towards her

He stops once he sees Carlos, a guy in their Science class approach her as he knows Carlos likes Isabella too. All hope is lost for Ronnie as Carlos rarely ever gets turned down by any girl.

"You asked her yet?" Christian asked coming up behind Ronnie as it startled him a bit

He sighed, "No."

"Then what the fuck are you doing still standing here?" Christian asked as Ronnie sadly pointed over to Isabella and Carlos

"Damnit, we gotta do everything for you, soon you'll be owing us money, and we don't come cheap either." Christian said as he looked over at Alex across the way and motioned to Isabella

Alex nodded as he walked over to them and from Alex's presence obviously was scarring Carlos as it didn't take him long to quickly run off.

"Alright, we're done playing fairy godmother, now go over there and get your girl already." Christian said as Ronnie walked over to Isabella

"Hey Isabella, you got a minute?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"I was uh, I was wondering that maybe you'd like to go to homecoming with me, not as a couple or anything, but just friends, that is if you'd like." He asked as she pleasantly smiled

"I would love to go with you."

"Oh wow, really? You don't mind being seen with me in front of the whole school?"

"I don't have anything to be ashamed about, you're great." She says as the bell rings for the next class
"I'll see you around."

"I can't believe it, he finally asked you out." Marisol said happily while Isabella blushed

"I can't believe it either, I hope I didn't weird him out when I told him that he was great. Ugh, I'm so stupid, I probably shouldn't have said that." Isabella groaned

"No girl you're not stupid. I think you should tell him already how you feel."

"But what if he doesn't feel the same way? What if he likes another girl or thinks I'm too weird for him or doesn't want to be with me because of my race."
