The silence in this car is completely unbearable. There's rush hour traffic so the ten-minute drive from the beach to the hospital is turning into twenty. I don't know why I agreed to this. I should have just let him sit there and bleed. But i know my luck which there isn't any for me and this would have come back to me one way or another.

"Stop staring at me," I snap staring straight ahead at the car in front of me.

"I'm not staring," he says.

"Yes, you are."

"I have a black eye, maybe two. I can barely see, Lynn," he explains.

I glance over at him. "Whatever. Stop looking at me."

"I'm gazing," he corrects.

"I don't care, Noah. Just stop."

The car goes quiet again and I keep driving. I finally turn into the parking lot.

"I don't need to be here," he tells me as I shut off the car.

"Yes, you do. Your lip is busted. That's obviously is going to need stitches. You have cuts everywhere. Just get out f the car and save yourself the hassle," I say and get out myself.

I start walking up to the door with him next to me. He holds the door open and I walk inside and up to the desk.

"Hi my friend, Noah Reed was in a fight just a few minutes ago and he looks pretty bad. I was hoping you could take a look at him," I ask the nurse at the desk.

"Of course, are you family or of any close relations with the patient to allow you in the exam room?" she asks me and starts typing away at her computer.

"Um...I uh--"

"She's my girlfriend. She's fine. Trust me," Noah says slinging an arm around me.

"First name?" She asks.

"Uh, Noah."

"Last name?"

"Reed," he answers.

"Date of birth."

"January 17, 2001."

"We can make a police report about the fight if you would like," the lady suggests.

I wait for Noah to say yes but his answer is different. "No, it was not that serious."

"Okay, just know within the next twenty-four hours the hospital can make any reports based on the records from today," she says and walks from behind the desk and starts walking. "Follow me."

"You could've filed the report," I mumble to him.

"I wasn't going to do that to you," he whispers back.

I snort. "What? Hurt me? You already did that bimbo," I inform him like he missed it.

"I said sorry, Red."

I look at him with defeat.

"Here is the room and the doctor will be in, in a moment," she says and leaves the room.

"You can go home now, you know," Noah says.

I look up from my spot and back down. "I'm not doing that."

NOAH REED'S P.O.V

She looks back down and starts fidgeting with her hands. Her hair is up in a ponytail and it's wavy. Her skin seems to have this natural honey-like glow to it. She just looks gorgeous.

"Red?" I say and she looks up again.

"What?"

"Thank you," I tell her. "You didn't--"
