"I wish you'd put that damn phone down and help bring out the last of the boxes." My mom wiped the sweat from her eyebrow as she drank from a bottle of water

I look up at her from my phone and look at Drew and Nick coming back in the house for the last few boxes to load on the truck.

"I'm good. Are we stopping by the school before we leave?" I ask her. She nodded and motions for me to come on

"Drew, I'm going to head down to Ry's school and withdraw her. Do y'all want anything on my way back?" She asks

"Some food." Nick answered stepping on the porch twisting his dread

We make eye contact for a few seconds then quickly look away. Things have been kind of awkward since that night we were in my room. I found out those brownies were weed brownies.

"Ok. Chinese good?" He nodded with a smile

"All his ass eat is Chinese." Drew shook his head walking past with another box

"So. What else am I supposed to eat?" He asks in a duh tone

"My fist, now bring out the rest of those boxes." Drew says lifting his shirt

I stand from the porch and make my way to the car. My mom followed shortly and drove the 20 minutes to the school.

"I'm going to clean out my locker while you get my paperwork." I mumble as we enter the school building. I make a left and my mom kept straight to the main office

Now that I think about it, I'm actually glad that I'm changing schools. There's really not a reason for me to stay here, I'm anti social anyways.

As I'm getting the last of my things out of my locker, I could see Ciera and Destiny down the hall. I didn't bother to say anything to them so I just continue to do what I was doing before.

It's been a while since we communicated with one another and I honestly don't see the reason to talk now. I'll hit them up later.

I finally shut the now empty locker and make my way down the hall to the trash can dumping everything in the trash.

I didn't bother stopping by any of my teachers classes letting them know I was getting withdrawn.

As I walk to the main hall my mom was walking from the office with my paperwork in hand. She flashes a smile at me as we meet up with each other and leave through the school doors.

As we walk towards the parking lot I could hear my name being called by a familiar voice that I know all too well.

"Rylan!" I hear him shout again. I roll my eyes and turn around to be face to face with Roy

"What?" I question him

He looks down at me, a slight frown on his face.

"Where you been? I been looking for you" he says as he look behind him, his best friend stood off in the distance

"Why? I been at home minding my business" I mumble, not in the mood for conversation

"Well, there's going to be a party next Friday on the 22nd and I was wondering if you'd come with me as my date?" He stares back at me with hopeful eyes

I glance at my mom sitting in the car and she was busy talking on the phone. I sigh before answering his question

"Out of all people, you want to go to the party with me? What's the catch? Why choose me when there's plenty of other girls that would like to go with you?" I question crossing my arms
