Imani

I sat down on the broken front door steps of Kieran's large mansion. I wanted to question him on why he was living in such a place while I watched him repair my car. However, I couldn't push myself to make conversation because he was shirtless , not that I blamed him seeing as it was extremely hot out today.

I also wondered how he managed to get my car down his long drive. I didn't see any other set of tire tracks belonging to any other pick up truck or car, instead I only noticed a set of footprints. Frowning slightly at the thought, I decided I'd ask him later.

"Thank you Mr. Maddox for agreeing to repair my car. When you are ready, I was just wondering if we could possibly discuss pric-" my words began to die on my tongue once he emerged from underneath my car.

"There is no need Imani" he said. His voice sent a shiver down my spine.

What is it with these people and money

"I insist Mr. Maddox-"

"Call me Kieran" he said." And as I've said before, there is no need"  he added.

I quietly nodded my head in understanding before fixating my attention elsewhere. My mind went back to the beast that I had seen in the trees and it made me wonder what kind of animal was it.

"Call me crazy if you'd like, but what kind of animals are there in these woods" I managed to squeak out.

I watched as his body tensed after I asked the question. Slowly turning to face me, his face held little to no emotion. It was like I was staring at a blank brick wall.

"There's the usual, small wolves here and there, bears, rabbits and etc" he shrugged.

Frowning slightly at his answer, I couldn't help but ponder on the beast I'd seen. It couldn't have been a bear.

"Is there any other animals bigger than a bear?" I questioned.

His eyes snapped up towards mine once he'd finished cleaning his hands. The intensity of his stare immediately made my throat dry up.

"No" he simply answered.

"Oh..it's just that I thought I saw-"

"It's nothing Miss. Kent" he dismissed me. I felt a pang of hurt in my chest, when he addressed me by my surname.

Biting down on my bottom lip I cast my gaze down to the ground. Maybe I was just seeing things. Looking back up towards Kieran, I was surprised to see that he was already staring at me. I never understood why my heart would flutter when his blue eyes would bore into my own.

"Well I should uh leave you to work then" I said as I stood up. I didn't want to leave. The thought alone sent a dull aching pain straight to my chest making me sigh lightly. I shook off the feeling, thinking nothing of it as I turned for the driveway.

His eyes widened ever so slightly before lowering.

"Would you like to stay for lunch?" He asked.

I stopped mid step before whirling around to face him. My mind was telling me to say no, but my heart was begging me to say yes. My lips parted as I prepared to answer, finally deciding to squeak out a tiny 'sure'.

"Sure, I don't mind" I shrugged. Internally I was hyperventilating.

I watched as he picked up his tool box before guiding me towards the large worn down mansion. Upon entering I was shocked to see just how intact everything was. It was nothing like the exterior. The large hall was completely empty with not a single furniture in sight. Our footsteps echoed as we walked. My eyes looked up at the ceiling which had a large circular hole in it, where people could peer down into from the second floor.
