USTULATION; THE DESCENT INTO HELL ISN'T EASY (III)

MAGNUS GRIPPED HIS PHONE as he stood in his crowded club. He kept glancing back down at his phone waiting for the blond to call him, which he would probably never end up doing, due to his forgetful nature. Despite how much the warlock cared about the bartender, he knew what he was like.

Turns out, Nico proved him wrong by calling him just when he was about to loose hope in his friend. Magnus smiled as he answered the phone quickly, "hello Nicholas."

The warlock heard his friend mutter, "don't call me that." Nico sighed and continued, "hi Magnus. Are you okay? You seemed a little worried in your messages."

"Physically, I'm fine. Mentally and emotionally, I'm a little unstable." Nico questioned the warlock further to get details, as Magnus began to explain why he had been feeling this way, "Valentine has been hunting down warlocks. I've got to protect my people from that psychopath. You understand that right?"

"I understand that you have to take care of those you care about, and that includes your people," Nico spoke as he ran a hand through his hair, "you have to protect them, just like I have to protect those I care about, my mom, Clary, Simon, Eliza, you."

Magnus felt his breath stop short in his throat, causing him to choke slightly on air. He kept his dark eyes on his phone screen that was slowly darkening as he couldn't exactly figure out what words to say. He voiced this to the blond who laughed shortly, "I'm just saying, Mags, I care about you."

Magnus let out a bitter laugh, "no, you don't. I'm just the guy who you work for." The warlock heard a sigh from his friend who seemed like he rolled his eyes at that.

"Look, Magnus, I'm gonna say this one time, and one time only," Magnus closed his eyes, "I get the fact that you don't know what it's like to be someone's top priority. But you need to start realising that you are mine."

Magnus froze as he heard his own words being echoed back to him. "But what about Clary or your mother?"

"I care about them in a platonic way, same with Simon and Eliza. You, on the other hand, I- um, care a lot about you, in a different way. I understand if you don't feel the same way but-" Nico began to ramble because he didn't hear a response.

The warlock blushed as he tried to think of a response, to calm the blond down, "Nico, it's fine, don't worry. I feel the same way as you. You know I do."

"Oh thank God," Nico sighed running a hand through his curls, "I didn't think you were interested at all."

"I am though. Are you - um - free at the moment?" Magnus asked as he rubbed his arm, glancing around the room at the distressed warlocks.
