USTULATION; DEAD MAN'S PARTY (III)

NICO AND ALEC WALKED side by side, along the sidewalk of the New York streets. The taller of the two kept glaring at the mundanes around them as he kept a hand on his blond friend's arm, steering him through the crowds. The blond in question was sniggering at something on his phone as he texted somebody, who Alec didn't know and whenever Alec tried to look at who he was texting, Nico moved his phone away.

"What are you giggling at?" Alec asked, smirking at the blond who glared slightly at him, putting his phone in his pocket.

"I wasn't giggling, and why do you care all of a sudden?" Nico answered, not really giving an answer but tried to defend himself nonetheless. Alec shrugged, "I'm trying to make conversation, Nic." Nico raised an eyebrow. "It's important to do that if we're going to become more than acquaintances-"

"What? Do you want us to become friends?" Nico smirked, "I don't take you for the type who willingly makes friends outside of your little group of shadowhunters."

Alec shrugged, "yeah well. We're the same age and now you kind of are in 'my little group of shadowhunters.'" Nico raised another eyebrow in a questioning manner, "really?"

"You intrigue me." Alec murmured softly, which Nico could hardly hear but tried to, straining his ears, alas he didn't hear what the brunet said.

The brunet in question was glad that the blond didn't hear him since teasing would surely ensure after knowing what he had said. But surprisingly Nico didn't push further, not wanting to impose, although that didn't stop him from dragging Alec over to Pandemonium as he had spotted a familiar werewolf who he hadn't seen in a while.

"Eliza, hey!" Nico called, drawing her attention to him as her soft features set into a glare. The werewolf walked over to the two shadowhunters, nodded at Alec before slapping Nico's shoulder repeatedly as she spoke, "what the hell were you thinking? Getting involved in shadowhunter business just because you felt like being a hero."

"I wasn't thinking-" "-you never do! You're always rushing into danger, no matter who's involved. Remember that little spat with the faeries?" Nico nodded. "Now the faeries have a grudge held against you, just because you didn't realise the fae had asked you out before you slept with her brother."

"Don't bring the fae into this. I thought you were mad at me for leaving in the time of need." Nico's eyebrows furrowed as he stared at his best friend who wasn't being very best friendly at this moment in time. Eliza stared back with annoyance lacing her glare. Neither paid attention to the brunet shadowhunter who stood dumbfounded at the two's behaviour.
