"So basically, you found out you could pretty much ignite yourself on fire, you steam when you touch water, which got your put in jail. Then you then escaped from that jail, and to keep them from following you, you started a forest fire. Then you found me," Pax recalled back while we ate over ice cream back at his house. We left school after we thought the coast was clear, that way we wouldn't run into the guards again.

"Correct," I said. "And apparently this Bill guy that they need to hand me over to really wants me."

"Do you know why?" he asked.

"No clue." We sat in silence while he stirred his now melted ice cream. "Soooooo, you want to go now?"

Pax looked up at me. "Not really."

"Come on Pax, I told you my story. Yours can't be worse."

"I know," he sighed.

I waited for him to speak.

"Soooo, I can kind of control people."

"Wait, what!?"

At that moment, one of the doors of the house opened.

"Could they actually be home?" Pax whispered to himself.

A second later, a man and a woman came walking around the corner, and my heart froze. The man, who I would assume is Pax's father, was my prison guard, one of the ones I locked in my cell. Neither of them had noticed me, so before they could, I slipped under the table, the tablecloth hiding me. Pax noticed this and came under with me.

"You don't have to worry about them, I'm here so you have an explanation for being here," Pax said.

"No, it's not that," I said. "Is your dad's name by chance Carl?"

"Yeeaah. Why would you know that?"

"Because," I started, bring my voice down even further. "He was one of the guards that I locked in my cell!"

"That's impossible!" Pax said, raising his voice a bit.

"Shhhhh!"

"Sorry," he whispered again. "But that's impossible! Both of my parents are surgeons. How do you think we get this much money for our house if they only work as prison guards?"

"Well, what if the prison I was in wasn't part of the government?" I question. "What if it's some big illegal corporation, and Bill is the head of it?"

"Well, you could be right about that, but my parents told me they're surgeons. It has to be some coincidence that you saw someone that looks like my dad there."

"Would this be the first time your parents have lied to you?" I asked.

I took his silence as a yes.

"Well, then that means if they see me, I'm done for. You have to help me get out of here."

"Okay," he said. "You're much more reliable than my parents at this point anyway."

"So what do we do?"

"Don't worry," he grinned. Oh no. "I got a plan."

(Pax's point of view)

"Hey, Mom! Hey Dad!" I said as I ran up to them and gave them a hug. "You guys are home. Finally!"

"Hey, honey," my mom cooed. "What have you been up to?"

"Oh, nothing much," I replied. "The usual, you know, school, swimming, hanging out with friends-"
