[Mitch's POV]
I sit at Warden Jerome's desk.
"You gonna talk today?" He asks. I stare at the crack where the snails came out of yesterday. The remains of them were cleaned up. "No? Suit yourself." I look at his glasses. They kind of pull me into a trance. "Well, I have something to show you. Follow." He stands up and I follow suit. We begin to walk down a hallway and reach a small room. He opens the door, gestures, and I walk in. He follows and closes the door. On one wall of the room are desks and chairs, and on the other is a one-way glass that looks into a dark room. I gasped at what I saw.
A wanted board.
Of all the wanted asylum escapees.
[Adam's POV]
I inserted the key into the lock and breathed deeply. There was a ladder and I turned on my phone to use for light. I went down and saw a light switch. I turned it on and gasped at what I saw.
A room with pictures. Locations tacked to the wall with writing scribbled next to it. Red string wound through the pictures, connecting at the tacks. I traced the string with my fingers until I came to a picture where all the twine led.
It was a picture of a house.
Not a fancy house, not a mansion, just a house. The house had looked oddly familiar. I began to read the writing out loud.
"'In Quebec, Canada, is where my memories track back to. I lived at this house at one time.'" A memory chart for Ty? I traced back to a few with jotted notes such as, 'This place seems familiar.' And 'a friend of mine lived here before.'
But what does it mean?
[Ty's POV]
I wake up to darkness. All I remember was getting dressed, walking out of my room, and darkness. What happened? I hear giggling. Crazy giggling?
"You awake?" My eyes adjust and I see someone with long, curly blonde hair to my left with a hand on my face. I know this voice from somewhere, I just don't know where. "I can't believe," she started, "that you are in this position." Her ruby red lips form their way into a frown, but shadows block her eyes. I attempt to move, but realize my hands are bound and so are my feet, tape over my mouth.
Classic.
More giggling. It's somewhat cute, but I find something in me telling me not to listen to her. She takes her hands off of my face and the lights turn on. I see a girl who is about 18 with curly, blonde hair. She's pretty tall, and has dark green eyes. She's just wearing a cute, small pink dress that's short. Very short.
"I can't believe you were kidnapped." She says with surprise. "I'll help." She takes the take off of my mouth and begins to untie the ropes. She doesn't look like the type who would be helping me escape, but she also doesn't look like the type who would kidnap me. I stand up and she stands in front of me, innocent-like. For some reason, when I'm with her, I begin to forget about everything else.
"You haven't forgotten, have you?" She tilts her head to the side.
"Who are you?" I felt the atmosphere get less lively.
"You have forgotten. I don't blame you, it's been two and a half years." She looks towards the ground. She immediately looks at me, her spirit returned. "I'm Maddie. Your girlfriend!"
