the greatest of love stories
cannot be constricted into
mere stories for they live,
and breathe much like the lovers themselves.
the greatest of love stories
cannot be typed, printed and bound,
into novels and books for
they do not have the spine to carry
the infinity such love stories bring.

the greatest of love stories
are like the creatures of mankind,
they grow and evolve, fall and fail,
leave yet come back for the sake of love.
the greatest of love stories aren't
told at bedtime to children
or recited to men at parties
for they look like monsters,
their edges are rough and tattered,
their spines lined with scars.
but O the brave one will see
that love was never easy.
they might look like monsters
for their faces tell tales of courage none can.
the greatest of love stories
do not need an ear to listen,
or a mouth to console and admire.
it does not need a language,
it survives in holding hands in silence,
where people breathe in, breathe out
nothing but love, nothing but love.

the greatest of love stories
aren't found in museums.
they live and breathe much like people themselves
and before you realise one such story
could be sitting right beside you.
