T I M E L E S S //

today someone asked you

where your lusty days,

your youthful charm and

your sunlit dreams stay.

tell him not they are gone

for 'tis a shame to say so

for as sand seeps down the hourglass,

you chose not to decay but to grow.

the wrinkles lining on your face

carry stories in their folds

which couldn't be held by

the spines of the books you hold.

your bent back looks to me like

half an hemisphere of the world

where miracles have danced about

and magic has unfurled.

your soft, sagging skin feels like

a fabric with so wild a soul that

its threads loosened themselves whole

to cradle poetry and art in its holes.

your hair has thinned out revealing

all the silvers it has concealed

to show there's youth beyond

the twenties and the thirties.

before they convince you that

your show's over and empty,

ask them to wait for your epilogue,

show how you're beyond than just being twenty.

Author's note:
This is for all the people who think aging means decaying, but the truth is aging is growing. Growing into a stronger and more beautiful person. Embrace those silver strands of hair, those wrinkles. Embrace yourself.

Inspired by Rupi Kaur's 'timeless'.
