Dawn's POV

Recap:

"I love you too."

*Beep... Beep... Beep...*

I woke with a start as usual. I walked down to breakfast and all conversation stopped. Judging by the lack of Charlie and the bonus of Edward, Charlie had gone to work and didn't know about this. I didn't say a word to either of them. I simply made my breakfast and went back up in my room to eat it. After my bland breakfast, I got dressed in a pair of black leggings, a grayish-blue denim t-shirt and a cream sweater. On my way out the bedroom door, I grabbed a pair of brown knee high boots. Thankfully by the time I was dressed Bella and Edward were gone. I decided that it was a good time to go see Sam.

After cleaning up the dishes, made by everyone, I grabbed Bella's spare keys to her truck and left a note on the key bowl telling everyone that I borrowed her car to visit some friends while they were in school. The drive down to the rez was quick and easy and I didn't crash. I pulled up to the rustic two-story and a few boys came out.

"No way," Embry said.

"Way. Sam here?" I asked getting out of the car.

"Dawn?" I heard a familiar, sexy, voice.

"Surprise!" I said with jazz hands.

He raced off the porch and almost immediately I was engulfed in a warm hug. I relished in the feeling of being complete. He pulled back a bit and I crashed my lips to his. He kissed back with more passion than I thought possible. Wolf whistles from the guys caused us to pull back sooner than I would have liked.

"Come on Uley, you don't get to hog her," Paul called. I saw Sam's smile turn into a scowl. I quickly placed my hands on his cheeks and forced him to look at me.

"I came here to see you," I assured and just like that his smile was back full force. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jared slap Paul on the back of the head. I pulled away and grabbed Sam's hand before leading him back inside. Emily let out a small squeal before embracing me in a hug. The hug didn't last very long before I was back in Sam's arms. "Did you like your surprise?"

"I love it... I love you."

"I love you too." I stood on my tippy toes and gave Sam a short peck.

Thankfully Emily had made lunch. My light breakfast only seemed to make me hungrier. After a delicious meal, Jared and Paul had to go on patrol. Emily and Embry went somewhere, I think they were just giving us the house.

"How did you get here? I thought it would take a couple of months," Sam asked bewildered.

"Mom and Charlie cooked this up. Charlie is worried about Bella and mom wants me to fix her, so they sent me here," I answered cuddling into Sam on the couch.

"Why does she think that you can fix Bella?"

"Because Bella once fixed me. After my dad left I kind of did some bad stuff, not drugs or anything like that but I disobeyed my mom, stayed out past my curfew, stupid stuff really. Bella brought me back. She reminded me who I was hurting because I was hurt and felt betrayed. After that, I became who is before you now. I stopped ditching class and paid attention. Good thing too, I was top of my class before mom got sick. I think now she wants me to repay the favor and I feel..."

"You feel like you have to."

"Yeah. But enough about Bella, what's been happening with you and the pack?"

"Pack's good. We've been chasing a red-headed leech for the past few months. She always seems to get away."

"How can she get passed, you guys?"

"She's been skirting the treaty line. Last week The big one tried to jump over the line, thankfully Paul stopped him. She got away then but she keeps coming back."

"You guys will get her, I know you will."

"How long are you staying?"

"A week. I know it's not long but I need to get back to mom."

"I understand."

Sam and I continued talking late into the night. It was a nice light conversation. Vampires and health problems seemed nonexistent. We watched a couple of movies and I fell asleep on the couch.

The next morning I woke up in Sam's room with Sam nowhere to be seen. I walked downstairs in yesterday's clothes to see a full kitchen with a cooking Emily. They said good morning and judging my their scoffs and smirks they had some rated r thoughts about what happened last night between me and Sam. I also happened to notice that Jacob was missing from the table. They were instead replaced with a girl that felt oddly familiar.

"Dawn this is Kim, my imprint," Jared introduced.

"Hello," I replied.

"It is so nice to meet you. Jared and that guys talk about you so much I feel like I know you," Kim said bring me into a hug.

"I feel the same. I look forward to getting to know you."

Us three girls made idle chit chat after Emily finished cooking. Thankfully she made us plates because that food was gone faster than I have ever seen them eat. Jacob and Sam came back soon after Breakfast was finished. Us girls did the dishes while Sam and Jacob ate and Jared, Embry, and Paul left for patrol. Sam gave me a quick kiss on the forehead then the cheek before leaving me to bond with the girls.

Around Lunch, I got an urgent call from Charlie. I forgot that I promised to bring the truck back. I told him that I was on my way before saying goodbye. Emily offered to follow behind me and bring me back but I declined. I told them that I should give it another shot with Bella.

I arrived at the Swan residence to see that stupid shiny silver Volvo. I walked inside but instead of the yelling, I expected I was pushed up against the wall with a hand tightening at my throat. I looked past the pale hand and saw golden eyes that looked ready to kill. Out of the corner of my darkening vision, I saw Bella trying to pry Edward off of me. I weakly kicked at his legs but that only caused the hand to tighten. Black dots joined the fuzzy vision and just as the hand went away and I took a deep breath I passed out.

I woke up for the second time today except for this time I was in a hospital like room. I looked down and saw that I was wearing a scratchy hospital gown.

"Good you're awake," Dr. Cullen said.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"My house. It seems that Edward mistook you for a dog-"

"Mistook me for a dog? Do you know how ludicrous you sound?"

"Miss Brooks, I assure you Edward didn't mean any harm-"

"How bad is the damage?"

"You have a bruised windpipe-"

"So whether or not he meant to cause damage he did. Where are my clothes?"

"Alice dressed you and promised to bring something in for you when you woke." Almost as soon as the words left his mouth Alice was in the room.
