"Huh?" Jack loosened his grip around me and was staring at the empty space where Alex should've been. "Where's Alex?"

Minutes later, the search for Alex began. Zack searched the backyard, Rian searched the attic, Jack searched the room upstairs while I tried to find Alex on the basement. We reunited minutes after to confirm that Alex was, indeed, gone.

"Where could he be?" Rian shook his head in confusion, removing some attic dust off his shoulders. "Think he went out to buy something?" Zack suggested hopefully. "We've been searching for almost an hour now. He should've been back already." I answered. My eyes keep rising up to the wall clock across the room. "Maybe he went grocery shopping." Jack tried. I shook my head and checked the wall clock again. "There's still plenty of supplies left. Besides, Alex's almost always too lazy to go there." I told him. "Change of heart?" he shrugged. I gave him a wilted look and he immediately apologized.

Something wasn't right. I rushed for the front door to grab a small, thick jacket that was hanging from it. "Stay here." I told them. "I'm going to get Alex."
