The world feels faint, and my legs threaten to come out from under me. I do the only thing that I can think of, and hide in denial.

"Your lying." I whisper.

"Oh no, you were surely the one. I felt you messing around the moment it started happening. Did you not feel it happening? Did you not feel me trying to stop you? I thought that's why you came to me; to figure out how to do it again." He laughs.

"But, I didn't do it on purpose..." I say quietly.

"Did you not feel me fighting you? Your mind is something amazing my dear."

And I do remember feeling him fight me. But at the time I just thought I was holding an image. Thinking back on it I can remember feeling the image coming towards, almost as if I pulled it there on my own. Maybe I really did do that on my own. But could I do it again if I wanted to?

If I could mess with the house like Kye could, maybe I could find the others. But...

"I was on fire..." I tell him.

"Yes you were. You were tapping into your true power, and we both could feel it. I was taken off guard this time, but next time you won't be so lucky. You are going to need more than just your true abilities if you want to find your friends." He is laughing at me, and I know it.

Then I think of something that I should have been thinking of the entire time.

"If I brought Nana here, and you don't want her here, does that mean you are going to send her away?" I ask.

"Do you want her here still?" He cocks an eyebrow.

"Yes!" I gasp.

He runs a hand through his hair causing it to fall into his eyes again. My skin burns with anticipation as I wait for him to say something. But instead he looks at the firepalce, as if he could control the flames with his mind.

Finally he speaks. "Then your grandmother will stay here."

"Really?" Hope rises in my chest.

"I can't take her away if you brought her here. You have a certain hold on her that I can't get around, and believe me, I have tried," I think of the way the mirrors had rattled in the room, "So until you let me have her, I can't take her from you."

"That's never going to happen." I growl.

"That's fine with me. I might not like her, but as long as you are holding her you can't have the others" He shrugs, moving across the room to sit in a large chair.

"What do you mean?" I ask, following him over.

"Do you know how long it took me to be able to control two of my puppets at one time?" He asks as he reaches behind him and pulls out two silver glasses.

I stand and wait, because I know I can never begin to guess how old he really is. He pours something into the glasses and hands one to me. I take it cautiously and peer inside at the dark liquid. He takes a sip and motions for me to take a seat in a chair to the left of him.

I take a seat and wait for him to go on.

"It took me two hundred years to finally be able to control two puppets at the same time. As long as you are holding your grandmother here, you won't be able to use your abilities to find you classmates. Not thirsty?" He asks motioning to my drink in my hand.

I take a sip cautiously and the taste settles into my tongue. It tastes a bit bitter, but it's nice and refreshing, like a cool glass of water on the hottest day of the summer. When I finish the drink I look up to see Kye smiling wildly.
