The moment I round the first corner I find the others sitting together on a bench. Sam and Quinn are engaged in a deep conversation while Nana taps her long fingernails against the wooden arm rest. None of them see me coming until I am standing right in front of them.

Surprisingly, they don't yell or scream at me like I had expected.

"How was your date?" Sam asks calmly.

"It was fine, I learned a lot. The most important thing I learned is that you girls were right. I need to start using my abilities to help us get out of here. Nothing in this house is as it seems to be." I tell them, standing a little straighter.

I notice Nana shift slightly before she launches to her feet at me.

"You will not do any such thing!" She shouts.

Shoving her, I regain my footing enough to stand taller than her. I am not going to take anymore of her protecting family crap. Not when there is so much at stake. I need to start fighting with everything I have if I want to get the others out safely.

"I'm sorry Nana, but this is something I have to do. There isn't any other way out, and right now that's all I need to concern myself with." I tell her.

It's hard to take the girls side over my Nana's, but with my feelings so mixed up right now I need to get as far away from this house as possible. And using my abilities is the only way that is going to get accomplished.

"I forbid you to use your powers." She growls.

"I don't care. You girls were right, I needed to pick a side. And I'm picking the side that gets my friends and myself as far away from this house as possible. I'm sorry Nana, and I know you are going to be mad at me, but this is something I have to do." I say, standing beside the girls.

Without another word, Nana stomps off down the hall. I don't chase her, though I probably should. With my hold still on her, Kye can't touch her. She will be fine until I can get out of the house.

"Should we be chasing after her?" Quinn asks.

"No, she needs time to calm down and let all of this sink in. In the meantime, why don't we try and find that door? You guys said you had a plan or something?" I say.

Sam jumps to her feet and holds out the bag Sam had given me before Kye took her. She digs through it and pulls out a large black flashlight. I take it and examine it before looking at her with confused eyes.

"What am I supposed to do with this?" I ask.

"It is the largest item we have that can somehow be used against Kye. We thought about it, and even though it sounds crazy, we thought that maybe if you charmed it or something the light could show us what the house really looks like." She blushes.

I look at it for a moment, turning it over in my hands to try and understand her meaning. The logic makes sense, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Maybe if I told it what to look for... but what is it looking for?

Gripping the flashlight tightly, I close my eyes and try to communicate to the inanimate item. I picture the hallway in the house, as if I'm showing it what it looks like, and then I show it disappearing, almost as if it were fake. I feel like an idiot, but I try my best to communicate what I want into the flashlight.

Suddenly the flashlight bursts into flames in my hands. I let out a little scream and hop back, the flashlight falling to the floor. As soon as it hits the floor the flames go out.

"Well that was surprising." Quinn blinks.

"Do you think it's going to work now?" Sam asks.

"I don't know anything about my powers," I tell them, "But the fact that it caught on fire meant that something happened. The only thing we can do now is try it out and see what happened."
