Allegra stumbled through the grey hallway, holding onto the wall with one hand to try and keep herself standing, her phone clutched desperately to her chest in her other hand, her palms sweaty.
"Lucy!" she screamed, tears flooding her cheeks. "Lucy!"
Lucy came running into the hall from her kitchen, a plate and a tea towel in her hand. When she saw the state of her best friend, she put them both down on the nearest surface and ran to her side.
"Oh my God, what's wrong?" she asked.
"Have you seen Taylor Swift's twitter?" Allegra cried breathlessly, unable to stop herself from crying.
"No," Lucy said, fearful of Allegra's next words.
"Look," Allegra shoved her phone into Lucy's chest and dropped weakly to her knees.
"Shit," Lucy gasped, looking at Tom and Taylor's smiling faces on Taylor's twitter.

They sat on Lucy's cream sofa.
Allegra had her head on Lucy's lap as Lucy played with her hair.
She had managed to stop herself crying, but all of the remaining energy had left her body in doing so.
"There's got to be a reasonable explanation to this," she told herself quietly. "He made it clear to me in America that he didn't want anything to do with her," a pause. "And you saw him on Access. How uncomfortable he was when that woman asked about her."
Lucy treaded carefully with her next words, unable to form them into a sentence that would not hurt the sad lady laying on her lap.
"Do you think he could have just put that on? He is an actor," she said carefully.
"What?" Allegra asked with a frown, sitting up and looking at her friend. "Lucy, no. He said he loved me..." She began to cry again at the memory; when, one month ago, Tom had asked Allegra to move in with him.
"I don't know what to say, Allie," Lucy admitted. "I'm so sorry."
"I feel so sick, Luce," Allegra grasped at her stomach, as if she was trying to push the nausea away.
"Try calling him again," Lucy leant forwards and grabbed Allegra's phone, offering it to her.
"He's got no signal," Allegra pushed her phone away. "Or his phone is off because he's with her," she muttered bitterly.
Lucy put Allegra's phone back on the coffee table and pulled her into a hug, playing with her hair again.
"It's going to be ok, Allie. I'm sure there's an explanation for all of this."
"He said he loved me," Allegra repeated, beginning to sob. "He said he loved me!"
