Students were in the halls, a poster over head that said "'School Dance
Tick-Tock Shake Your Body Time
A Night Of Funk'" in different colors.

Two girls that went by the names of Katherine and Sniper stood in the halls together, looking at a older girl.

"Look at that ninth grade woman." Katherine said. "She's putting on makeup. We're going to be ninth grade women some day."

Sniper blinked. "This thing goes to ninth grade?"

The ninth grader closed her eyes and continued to put seemingly scribble the makeup around her eyes.

Katherine pointed. "Why that?"

"Brings out your eyes."

"Why would I want to take out my eyes?'

"She's not taking out her eyes."

The girl held up a thing to her lashes. Katherine pointed again.

"And I think she is."

The girl stopped and looked at the brunette.

"It's an eyelash curler, it doesn't even hurt."

Katherine chuckled as the girl held out the item and the brunette grabbed it.

"I have eyelashes."

Sniper laughed. "Watch this."

Katherine held it to her eye and lightly screamed out.

"Anybody else would stop."

Medda walked by and looked at Katherine.

"Open it."

Katherine did so. "Thank, not-real-mommy."

"Yeah, okay."

She walked off.

The ninth grader held out her hand.

"Yeah, okay."

The two girls sat at the bench.

Romeo slid next to them.

"Ladies."

"Romeo." they both responded.

"Who are you two taking to the dance? Cause i'm going with the most beautiful, charming, pretty boy in the world."

"I'm going with Sarah."

"And i'm going with nobody."

Romeo nodded and walked off.

Sarah and David walked by, the former stopping by the two.

"Hey, guys."

Katherine lifted up her hand and waved.

"Sarah!"

"Hand."

"Sarah!"

"Grown-up voice."

"Sarah, hello."

"Hi."

Race watched as Jack and David hugged each other.

"You guys going to the dance?" he asked.

"Might be."

Crutchie walked up and said hey.

"Hey, hee-haw," Race greeted, "you goin to tick-tock shake your body time? Cause I don't think they'll be doin a whole lot of square dancing."

"Well, then i'm sure i'll have no idea what to do and you can make fun of me."
