The following day Niklaus took Hayley and I to the bayou where the Crescent wolves used to live. Now the cabins and tents were deserted, no wolf in eye or hearing site. Making Hayley look at us with her arms crossed and say "I told you, this place is deserted"

"No, they wouldn't desert New Orleans, move maybe but not desert" I say knowing that Oliver was too prideful to move the Crescents out of the Bayou permanently

"Their scent is fresh" Niklaus says making me close my eyes and inhale trying to see if he was telling the truth, but since I had yet to master the new heightened sense of smell. I couldn't figure it out, "They're hiding. Which means somewhere nearby, we will find the remnants of your pack"

This only seemed to agitate Hayley, "...And then what? It's not exactly like they're going to welcome us. If there's one thing these people hate more than vampires, it's hybrids"

"What they hate is their lack of power. Hence the willingness of their brethren to deal with that witch in exchange for rings! But, she hasn't gotten to your lot yet, so, we need to get to them first and ensure they align with us"

"Awesome. All we gotta do is find them" Hayley says skeptically not believing that we, much less she, would be able to convince people of aligning with something they dislike

"Thats where you come in" I tell Hayley but it seemed that Niklaus had other plans as he turns to look at me and smile

"Well love now what kind of friend would you be if you let Hayley explore her new abilities alone" Niklaus says making me glare at him and when I look at Hayley it seemed that she was siding with him

"i do not like this new team up" I say pointing at them but give in knowing he was right "okay, what do we do?"

"Well, you're a hybrid now, with heightened senses unlike anything under the sun... besides me" Niklaus says sounding very condescend so all we do is roll our eyes and then close them. I try what I did once before, back in Colorado. I close my eyes and inhale trying to isolate the over powering of smells surrounding me. I open my eyes once I hear Hayley sigh not having picked anything up just like i hadn't.

"This is stupid" Hayley states sounding like she was ready to give up

This only seemed to make Niklaus try to encourage her by shouting "Your people need a leader! You are their queen!"

"I am a mess! I cry all day, I feed all night. I'm no longer normal!" Hayley shouts back before she then storms off making me turn to face Niklaus slightly annoyed

"little harsh don't you think?"

"Your people need a leader! You said she is to be their queen, i am only preparing her" Niklaus says trying to validate his method

"But you have to understand that she is in pain! That we both are!" I exclaim

"Do you think you're alone in that pain?"

"Oh see I don't know! Ever since I returned you wont even stand in the same room as me! It took Elijah for you to be in the same room as me for longer than a minute. I mean have you even thought about her once?" I ask trying to get past what ever problems we seem to be having while also bringing up our daughter

"I have not stopped thinking about her! When it pains me, I seek comfort in the idea of what I will do to those who would harm her"

"I have not stopped thinking about her! When it pains me, I seek comfort in the idea of what I will do to those who would harm her"
