Friday finally arrived and I was so thankful. Christopher only glared at me in the halls - actually, his face was still quite swollen so I couldn't tell if it was that or if he was still mad. Claire and Ethan and I drove to the hospital to meet Fate and Destiny. Considering his leg was severely broken, Fate was out of school for another week, but from Mom's constant chatter about those two, I expected them to be basically living with us by the end of the weekend. Destiny wheeled Fate out of the hospital doors, the rest of us following suit.

Mom and Dad begged us to convince Destiny to come visit for dinner tonight, so that's what we did. We talked over dinner about their plans now. "Well, now I'll be able to save about forty dollars of beer each week, so that's a plus." Destiny joked tartly. I could tell she was angry with Hank, which was completely reasonable.

Next to me, Fate cleared his throat loudly. "Thank you so much for this dinner, Ethan. It's wonderful." He said in an attempt to change the subject. We all clearly got the message he was trying to get across.

Ethan made steaks tonight, which happened to be his specialty. I loved when he cooked in general - anything was better than Mom's poor attempts - but he made amazing steaks. But that was beside the point - the point was that maybe Ethan and Fate could get along. To prove my point, Ethan offered a smirk in response and waved his steak around on his fork. "Thanks, man," he replied.

I smiled. Mom, Dad, and Destiny followed suit. "So, Fate, when will you be completely healed?" Dad questioned, digging into his mashed potatoes.

"Maybe in a month or two. My leg looks pretty bad, the doctors say, but they're hoping for a month-long recovery."

The rest of dinner consisted of small talk about nothing and everything. When I finished cleaning the table, Fate came up to me in his wheelchair. "Hey, Evie," he greeted. I turned to face him as a small smile grew on my face.

"Hey. Need anything?" I asked.

Fate seemed to ponder for a bit before coming up with an answer. "Maybe."

My eyebrows drew together in confusion and worry. "Okay," I replied, "with what?"

Fate smirked lightly, which surprised me. It didn't seem normal for Fate to appear so... confident. He wheeled himself around directly in front of me and looked up into my eyes. He got me every single time with his eyes. "I'm not feeling well."

"Uhm, okay... Are you running a fever? Is your stomach hurting? Was it the steak? I'm pretty sure Ethan wouldn't feed you a raw one-" I was frantically looking around for a thermometer to check his temperature.

"I don't think it's that, Evie." He chuckles, shaking his head slowly.

"Well, what else could it be?" I was beginning to feel helpless. I was of no use to Fate and he really needed me.

"I have this condition where I'm low on a certain vitamin."

"What? The doctor didn't tell me that. What is it?"

"Vitamin you," He replied lowly. The gleam in his eyes was playful. I immediately wanted to smack him.

"That is so not cool! I actually thought you weren't feeling well and I was getting upset because nothing I was thinking of was what was wrong with you. It wasn't the steak, it wasn't a fever-"

"Eve, calm down. It was just a joke. I was trying to ease the tension." Fate began to laugh. I crossed my arms over my chest as I fought back a blush that was creeping up my neck. I tried so hard to be mad at him, but I just couldn't. His flirtatiousness caught me off guard and I would be lying if I said I didn't like it. It was nice seeing Fate have a bit of confidence.

Claire wandered in and shrieked. "Oops! Was I interrupting something?" As if on cue, Ethan stalks in afterward, pretending to look like he had no idea Fate was even still here.

"Fate? You're still here? Hey, wait a minute... Were you two in here alone?" His eyes narrowed in suspicion. I bit back a huge grin.

"Maybe we were, maybe we weren't." Fate shrugged in response. Before I could even evaluate what was happening in front of me, Fate expertly turned on one wheel and sped out of the kitchen, Ethan running after him screaming about how he will ruin Fate's life if he touches me. Claire began to giggle infectiously, which eventually led to me joining in.

Mom and Dad came in later and announced that the Westbrook's were leaving. I followed them out to the door and said my goodbyes. Ethan stood rather close to me the entire time, making sure Fate wouldn't make a move on me. Just because Fate wasn't going to make a move on me didn't mean I wasn't going to make one on him, though. I bent down and gave him a peck on the cheek. When I pulled away Fate said, "I think I'm good on vitamin You now. Thanks for that." Ethan glared at us. I stood back up and watched them get into their car and leave.

When I shut the door, Ethan was wearing a deep frown. "What was that?"

Mom rolled her eyes. "Stop scrutinizing her, dear," she put an arm around his shoulders. Ethan relaxed and shook his head.

"My baby sis is all grown up," he pretended to wipe a tear from his eye. I rolled my eyes in annoyance at his words.

"You're just mad Fate hasn't ran for the hills like the other guys who've met you."

"That's why I like him," Dad chimed in.

"Yeah, he's not a wimp." Ethan muttered, leaning into Mom.

"I'll make sure to tell him you said that, E," I laughed as I made my way upstairs. "I'm turning in for the night. See you guys tomorrow. Bye, Claire."

Claire waved from the bottom of the stairs and said goodnight to Mom, Dad, and Ethan, before walking next door. I only hoped she could make it tonight.
