I am in love. The sun shines brighter when he's around, the air is sweet and crisp, and I am ready to face even the greatest foe bare handed if it meant I could spend all my days by his side.

It's a better place since you came along

Our company of fourteen became fifteen when Gandalf declared he was to join us. A hobbit, to be our burglar. Even I was sceptical at first, but I was also the only one who saw his potential- apart from Gandalf of course. He seemed so innocent and afraid and when he decided he wasn't to join us, I tried to convince him otherwise. I like to believe that I was one of the reasons he woke up that next morning and chased us down.

Since you came along

The brothers Fili and Kili tease me relentlessly, but I don't care. Love does that to you, makes you happier and more carefree. Makes you see things in a different, more optimistic light. Fili says I'm delusional, but Kili believes me, for he feels the same towards Tauriel. The problem is, I doubt Bilbo feels the same towards me, the beautiful love that makes my heart dance and sing whenever he's around.

I kissed him once. It was on accident, really, I tripped and fell and he tried to catch me and we both fell to the ground. I was laying on top of him and blushing quite terribly and it just sort of happened, a quick peck to his cheek. Then I stood up, brushed myself off while apologizing for the fall, and helped Bilbo up to stand as well. He watched me walk away, nearly dumbstruck, as I hid my inner happiness very well. Oh, who am I kidding? I practically whooped in joy once I was out of his hearing range.

I am going to tell him today how I feel. Ever since the eagles saved us I've had this nagging feeling I must speak up soon. So I will. I've always trusted my instincts, so here goes nothing!

I march on over to where Bilbo is seated at the edge of the camping spot where we are resting for the night. He is staring into the firelight, lost in his own thoughts I presume. I smile softly and sit down beside him. It may take a while for him to notice my presence, but that's alright. Companionable silence is just as nice as a good conversation.

Bilbo turns to look at me after a good ten minutes. "Y/N, hello!" he says with a wide smile and I reply, "Hello Bilbo. I'd like to talk to you about something for a minute, if you could spare the time." He brightens up and replies, his full attention on me now, "Of course! If you don't mind, I also need to tell you something important. But you go first, please." I realize I'm not sure how I want to say this. So I just go with the obvious.

"I was sad and scared for this adventure. Not sure how I'd be a valuable part of the company. But, well...

Bilbo just smiles and hugs me tight. "My life has changed, Y/N. And for the better. Do you know how?" I shake my head, blushing a little, and he finishes sweetly, "It's because I met you." I smile back and kiss his cheek. He blushes the same shade of pink as I am. We end up just sitting there, hands intertwined and my head gently laid on his shoulder, staring into the flickering firelight together.
