April 18, Xerxes
Have you ever wonder... how difficult is to create and how easy is to destroy? What we build up all our lifes can come down in a question of seconds?
So...Why do we still create? We need to leave our mark, a sign of our path in this world. Even after our footprints vanish, we'll remain in the hearts of the ones we loved, of the ones we ourselves created. All that is worth it
Me and Al were in the ruins of Xerxes, an ancient civilization that existed in the Great Desert, east of Amestria. An advanced peaceful, society, deeply connected with the arts of alchemy and philosophy, with more than one million people that disappeared in one single night.
-So...What are we looking for here Ed?
- We need to look out for some clues that can help us understand what the Homunculus are up too. What's why we came.
- Are you sure we're going to find something useful? Everything's destroyed...
- You have to pay attention to the detail Al! You see that odd transmutation circle over there ? When you look at it seems like a ordinary ancient transmutation circle...but It's not
- What do you mean by that Ed!? Wait...You mean... NO WAY!
- It's true... that's the transmutation circle that turned this country into ashes. And that lion devouring the sun... It can only mean one thing... The Homuncoulous wants to surpass god...he wants it's power.
- NO! IT CAN'T BE! How can someone reach god? That's none sense!
I looked attentively at Alphonse with a serenity, emotionless look in my eyes as I put my hand on his should. I looked up at him with a broken smile
- And yet...That's exactly that we tried to do, brother. Wasn't reliving people always a none sense, Alphonse?
Alphonse was quietly staring into the ground. Actually I thought he was thinking * Actually you were the one who came up with the idea in a first place* but he was very interested in a old lost paper...it looked like a letter
- ED! Come take a look at this! Come On!
- What about now? Jeez, I'm coming just wait a- My eyes were wide open. It was a letter. It was a letter from Van Hohenheim.
To your Holiness, the King
"I'm mostly honored to serve you as your slave and even more to direct these words to your majesty . I, slave number 18 have been learning alchemy due to my master's wisdom and kindness.
Seeing the world through this coded and symbolic language sure open our eyes to a greater world. A world of hope and freedom, in which we're capable of everything. That's why I ask you, my king, for me to be given the name Van Hohenheim and the freedom to seek not only the arts of alchemy but also the happiness of a family to return to"
Grateful for your time, Van Hohenheim
Me and Al were astound, but that wasn't just it. The letter had something written behind in a symbolic strange language :
" It is my will to pass this letter to my sons, if I'm to have such bless in this sort life. One shall be named Edward which means "the one who brings fortune" and the other Alphonse which means " the one who's noble and kind". May this children find happiness they deserve"
- So...Ed... You're keeping the letter right?
- Yeah! I have to give this trash to that damn father 'cuz he doesn't even know how to deliver a letter! GOD..he's helpless!- Al was smiling at me. He knew I was crying
- You know what Ed... You totally suck in your "Hating father act"! AHAHAH
- WHAT YA SAY? WATCH YOUR FILTHY MOUTH YOU DAMN YOUNGER BROTHER!!
As the sun was setting in Xerxes' golden and ivory lost temples a smile remained in my face, knowing that the father I desperately wanted to hate was also a slave with words full of love. Yup, Al's right...I really suck at this
Edward Elric, May you love me
