A Knight's Slave

Volume 1 Chapter 12

"Ouch- hey!?" I exclaimed annoyed as my father gave me a chop on the head. I caressed my head as I felt a bump forming. 'That bastard father.'

"How can you be so stupid!? What if there were civilians that were unable to evacuate got caught up in your recklessness!? How are you going to take responsibility, huh!? Tell me!?" He shouted at me, disappointment evident on his face. I said nothing as his words told the truth. 'But still, it's a 'What if'. No one even got caught' I thought as I pouted. Father just sighed and bent down to pick up one piece of the rubbish that was unsightingly scattered on the ground. A slight purple glow came out of his hands as he closed his eyes.

I peeked over his shoulder to see the magic unfold. Phychometry, a special ability my father can use. It is the ability to see or sense the history of an object which is really useful for investigating. Every time I thought about it, detective Conan pops into my mind. 'Oh how much I miss reading that manga my friend lent me. That was classic.' Snapping out of my thoughts, at the corner of my vision I see my father standing up and dusting off his hands. "So? What did 'ya get?" I asked. He sighed and shook his head, a knot forming on his forehead. "Well, that's the problem. I didn't get anything" I looked at him incredulously. "Eh?"

"I tried to look deeper into it but what came out are in pieces and fragments. It's almost as if there is something interfering with it." I blinked a couple of times in disbelief. "Is that even possible?" "...Yeah, it is"

I laid flat on my bed after I took a bath and changed my clothes, my mind still lingering on the explanation my father had told me. 'I still can't believe it.'
