Chapter 21 ~ Don't say GoodBye

Skylar's POV

I ran out after Darren to try to find him. I thought he went back to our room but when I went back, he wasn't there. I ran all around our floor and the main floor but I couldn't find him. I walked into the staircase because I remember one time when he got mad he stayed in the staircase crying for a day, but that was when we were 7 years old.

I found him sitting there, crying. I walked up to him and I think he could sense I was there because he said, "Go away, I don't want to or need to talk to you." I sat down beside him and he moved over.
"Darren, listen to me," I started.
"Go away, you're just going to leave me here alone anyways."
"You mean like how you left me alone? I waited for you for 3 years! You never gave me any sign that you were alive! You didn't care about me then so why should I care about you now!? Darren Espanto, I'm done with you and your stupidity." I walked out and left him there alone to think.

Darren E.

She left me there alone. And the words she said really hurt. I never meant to leave her without a word. It just happened. I got up and ran after her. I knew she would be in the hotel room so I went to go find her. And surely, she was sitting on her bed with her head on her knees crying. I sat down beside her and gave her a hug.
"I didn't mean to."
"You didn't mean to what!? To just randomly start yelling at me or for leaving me for 3 years without a word?"
"I didn't mean to do either of those things, they just happened."
"You know I need you right? You're the one who understands what it feels like to have to leave everything behind and just leave. You get what I'm going through."

Skylar's POV

I started singing Gotta Go My Own Way by Vanessa Hudgens because it represents me and Darren right now.

I gotta say what's on my mind
Something about us
Doesn't seem right these days
Life keeps getting in the way
Whenever we try, somehow the plan
Is always rearranged
It's so hard to say
But I've gotta do what's best for me

I gotta go my own way" We stopped singing and I gave him a hug and whispered in his ear, "I'm sorry Darren." Tears started streaming down my face.

I got a call from my mom and I answered it.
S: hello? Mom?
M: hi Skylar, I have some good news.
S: what is it?
M: we're moving back to Calgary!
S: what!?
M: Yeah,I thought you'd be excited.
S: mom, I have some good news for me too but I need your permission.
M: what is it?
S: I got an internship from Jason Chen or kind of like a Scholarship. He asked me to stay in Arcadia and work with him. He said he would cover up my living and school and everything. I just need a yes from you.
M: yes, of course you can go, it's a once in a lifetime chance!
S: thank you so much mom!
M: of course you have to help us move back to Calgary first.
S: ya, sure I will. Talk later, bye mom.
M: bye Sky

I hung up and saw Darren staring at me with tears streaming down his face.
"So you're really leaving," he stated.
"I'm sorry Darren, I really have to go."
"I need you Skylar. I really do." I stared at him with sad, longing eyes.
"I need you too. I need you support me throughout my journey, just like I would if it was the other way around." He didn't say anything and I was scared to know what would happen.
"I just hate to say goodbye," he said with his voice cracking.
"Then let's not say goodbye, let's say see you later."
"Let's, I'll never forget you."
