It had been almost a week since the early-morning phone call but I still couldn't stop thinking about it. I'd like to blame it on my journalistic instincts since my final year of classes started and I've been overwhelmed with research articles but I think it was purely my curiosity. Why did that woman call me? Who was she? Why did she sound so upset when I answered?

"Dude." I snapped out of my thoughts to Kyle, my other roommate, waving his hand about four inches in front of my face. "Are you still thinking about that chick? Shit man! She called you once and hung up on you!"

"Whatever," I mumbled in response and tried to go back to my laptop where I was working on an article for next month's newsletter.

"No. You need to get out of this weird mood. It's Friday, let's go out tonight and celebrate."

"Celebrate what?" Max, known eavesdropper, asked from across the room.

"Getting through our last ever first week of college!" Kyle exclaimed while Max and I chuckled, eventually agreeing to go out with him.

"See? I was right, you're having fun," Kyle yelled through the thumping music in one of our favorite night clubs. I rolled my eyes but nodded because yes, he was right, I needed this.

"Hopefully coming out gives Max an excuse to go to Lindsay's this time; I don't know if I can take another night of those two," I said just loud enough so Kyle could hear me over the music. It may have been a bad idea since he was now imitating the sounds we heard through the bedroom walls almost every night this week. "I'm going to grab another drink."

A few, actually more like an abundant amount of drinks later, Kyle was dragging me back to our apartment and plopped me into bed.

"You need to stop eating," he commented.

"You're just jealous that I'm two-hundred pounds of pure muscle while your scrawny ass can't pack on some decent biceps no matter how many hours you spend at he gym," I slurred while kicking off my shoes.

"At least I can handle my booze there champ," he responded with a hard flick of the light switch followed by a slam of my bedroom door. I didn't feel bad for getting so trashed, it was his idea to go out anyways so he brought this upon himself.
