"Son of a bitch!" I practically yelled and swung out of bed, pacing while redialing her number. It rang and rang, eventually going to voicemail so I tried her again.

"What's going on?" Kyle appeared in my doorway with sleepy eyes.

"She hung up."

"So?"

I tried again and listened to the ringing until I was connected once again with her voicemail but I decided to try one last time before leaving a message.

"She's upset."

"James, chicks get upset all the time. She'll cool off tomorrow."

"SHUT UP KYLE!" I shouted as I reached her voicemail once again.

"Lydia, nothing was your fault okay? It's not fair of them to blame it on you when it was just an accident. They know how much you loved their son and you shouldn't have to ask for their forgiveness, it should have been given to you. Please don't try to deal with this alone Lydia, please call me back. I'm here for you."

I turned around and saw that Max had joined Kyle in my doorway. They were both staring at me completely unsure of what to do.

"Go back to bed," I ordered and slumped over with my head in my hands.

"What was that? Talk to us man."

They both joined me and sat on my bed, giving me time to think in silence.

"What happened to her?" Max asked but I couldn't tell them; my mind was only thinking about what she was going through right now.

"She'll be okay. I'll call her again tomorrow."

When they knew they would get nothing more from me, they returned to their own rooms and I stared at the ceiling until morning. I have to admit, I was a bit shocked when my phone rang.

"Lydia!?"

"Hi."

"Lydia, don't ever hang up on me like that again," I practically felt myself seething. I was worried for her all night.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called you."

"Of course you should have I'm here for you, I told you that. Just please don't ignore me like that again Lydia. I didn't know what you were thinking and you were so upset."

"I'm sorry James." I exhaled and forced myself to calm down.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Not really. I just wanted to thank you for being there again."

"I'll always be here for you. Always."

"Finals are in two weeks. Will you come to the art showcase?"

"I'll be there. How's your piece coming along?"

"I've been making some tweaks but it's shaping up. I'm just nervous it's not going to show what I really feel."

"You're very passionate Lydia, I'm sure it will show through your music and the drawings will help those who can't keep up." She giggled softly.

"I hope so. Can we talk after class again?"

"I'm done at five. I'll call you?"

"Okay, talk later James."

"Have a good day Lydia."
